Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Sr Principal Systems Engineer to support as the Guidance Section and/or Control Section IPT Lead for the Anti-Radiation Guided Missile (AARGM) Production program with our talented Advanced Weapons team. This candidate will work directly with the program’s Systems Engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, supporting the production cadence and projects for the Guidance Section and/or Control Section.
This position is required to be full-time, on-site in the Northridge, CA location. No remote/telework arrangement is available for this position. Applicant must have a current US Government DoW Secret security clearance.
The ideal candidate will have experience in systems engineering lifecycle of missile / weapon system development program(s) and production experience. They will have technical knowledge in one or more of the subsystems of missile/weapon system, e.g., RF/sensors, guidance, navigation, control, telemetry/communication, and airframe.
In this role, the selected candidate will (but not be limited to):
Leading the GS/CS IPT and provide systems engineering support as part of a trouble shooting team with systems matter expertise on other areas, e.g., sensor/radar, software, mechanical, electrical, and material properties).
Provide engineering solutions to a variety of technical problems and projects.
Developing/updating requirements, test plan, test procedures, etc., to support Production Engineering projects.
Perform data mining for both failure database (TipQA) and Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP) data variability analysis.
Lead the efforts for Failure Trend Analysis, Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations on RF / electronics sensor systems with exposure to hardware, software, and various applications used on the projects.
Generate and present data analysis results in vu-graphs to support internal and external meetings.
Interface with team members, supervisor, project leads, and external customers in a methodical, detailed and process-oriented fashion to communicate technical briefing and program status.
Support systems engineering metrics and technical performance measurement tracking.
Support the preparation of system engineering materials during System Requirements Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, System Verification Review, Test Readiness Review, and other program reviews as needed.
Support Program Management activities to ensure cost and schedule objectives are met; support program status efforts including Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tracking and Control Account Management (CAM) activities.
Partner with Global Supply Chain to manage the technical, schedule, cost, and quality of the missile components from our subcontractors.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline with 8+ years of systems engineering experience; OR a Masters with 6+ years of the same experience
Experience in production process/environment.
Experience systems engineering tools, such as DOORS, CAMEO.
Experience in root cause correction action process and execution.
Experience in leading a technical team to complete engineering effort(s).
Experience in configuration management and product lifecycle management tool(s).
Strong communication skills to communicate with peers in a methodical, detailed and process-oriented fashion.
Demonstrated experience in providing solutions to a variety of technical problems without appreciable direction.
Current US Government DoW Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering approach.
Experience working in the defense industry or weapon systems
