The Engineering & Sciences organization supporting the Transformational Computing business area at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for a Systems Engineer to join our team based out of Linthicum, MD or Annapolis Junction.
In this role, the selected candidate will (but not be limited to):
- Support requirements development, management, analysis, and traceability, to generate stakeholder needs definitions, requirements, use cases, and CONOPS.
- Develop systems requirements, and further allocate to lower-level requirements (e.g., subsystem, software, hardware, programmable logic).
- Assist with the generation of well-defined and executable system, subsystem, and software requirements documents, interface documents, and test and verification documents.
- Support system architecture development and system/subsystem/software allocations and designs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure system/subsystem/software designs align with system requirements.
- Support planning and execution of system/subsystems/software/hardware integration, (formal qualification) test, and requirements verification activities.
- Support functional analysis and systems trade studies for technical solutions with respect to concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance.
- Support system technical performance measurement definition and tracking.
- Support the preparation of system/software engineering materials during System Requirements Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, System Verification Review, Test Readiness Review, and other program reviews as needed.
- Interface with inter-organizational management and external Customer to communicate technical briefing and program status.
This position will serve on-site in Linthicum/ Annapolis Junction, MD.
Basic qualifications for Sr. Principal Systems Engineer:
- Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of nine (9) years of systems engineering experience with a minimum of four (4) years of requirement/verification experience; will consider Master of Science in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of seven (7) years of systems/software engineering with a minimum of four (4) years of requirement/verification experience.
- Demonstrated Experience with Systems Development Lifecycle, Focus on trade studies, white papers, analysis of alternatives (AoA), Risk Reduction activities (RR), system/subsystem/software/hardware integration, test, and verification.
- Ability to translate mission needs into specific, testable, execution/operation focused requirements.
- Must have experience with requirements management tools.
- Demonstrated great communication skills.
- This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen with Active DoD TS/SCI with poly security clearance business requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active DoD TS/SCI with poly security clearance per business requirements.
- Demonstrated Model Based Systems Engineering (SysML).
- Demonstrated Experience working with CAMEO.
- Demonstrated Experience with Digital Engineering & Design (ASIC product lifecycle.
- Master’s degree or PhD in STEM or technical management.
- Understanding of DoD systems engineering requirements (UAF).
- Multi-Disciplinary Engineering exposure (Software, Hardware, Electrical) and strong ability to communicate cross functionally.
Salary Range: $127,000.00 - $199,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
