Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is searching for a Sr Principal Systems Engineer to support our Integration & Test (I&T) department. As a member of the I&T department, the candidate will work in a fast-paced team environment alongside physicists, design engineers, and superconducting foundry engineers to make our technologies a reality. This position will serve on-site at our Woodland Hills, CA facility. This position will be 100% on-site.
Job Responsibilities
- Identifying unique requirements from a broad customer base, flowing the requirements into design documentation, and working with a diverse team to build and test those requirements
- Work on the capabilities of current products, performance analyses, design information, and requirements verification methods
- Ensure logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
- Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation
- Generate, review, and manage multiple requirements sets that cover all aspects of both performance and nonperformance including mechanical interfaces, electrical interfaces, data requirements, environmental requirements, and reliability
- Design, develop, and implement testing methods to verify and validate project requirements
- Performing hands-on electrical testing at CCA level and systems level test setups
- Documenting & dispositioning hardware discrepancies, pursuing root cause & corrective actions
Basic Qualifications:
- 8 years relevant experience with B.S. Electrical Engineering or equivalent STEM discipline equivalent; or 6 years relevant experience with M.S. Electrical Engineering or equivalent STEM discipline equivalent; or 3 years relevant experience with PhD Electrical Engineering or equivalent STEM discipline equivalent
- Active US Government Secret Level security clearance
- Experience in System Engineering activities such as:
- Requirements development
- Test Procedure development
- Verification and Validation i.e. experience running tests and documenting results
- Ability to diagnose complex issues, lead problem-solving efforts, and drive tasks to completion
- Demonstrated teamwork and leadership of projects or teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to work onsite in Woodland Hills, Ca as required by this position
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active US Government TS/SCI with poly security clearance
- Experience with IBM Rational DOORS and technical baseline management
- Systems Engineering experience on large, complex systems
- Experience supporting test investigations and debugging efforts
- Proficient in at least one of the following programming environments: MATLAB, C, C++, C#, and/or Python
- Experience creating automated test scripts that integrate with hardware interfaces
- Working knowledge of standard test equipment: network analyzers, oscilloscopes, waveform generators, synthesizers, digitizers, and/or signal analyzers
- Working knowledge of standard design components: filters, couplers, splitters, amplifiers, etc.
- Experience working with operational hazards such as overhead lifting, Thermal Chambers, and Vibration Test systems
- Strong track record of driving innovation and spearheading digital-transformation initiatives in test workflows
- Experience engaging external customers through meetings, presentations, and technical negotiations
