Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Procurement Specialist to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals in Sunnyvale, California. This exciting role supports the Maritime/Land Systems & Sensors division, which supports the Submarine Industrial Base and  performing on Northrop Grumman’s existing programs and platforms while also exploring exciting and new opportunities to shape Northrop Grumman’s portfolio of the future. The position reports to the Procurement Manager for the Marine Systems Business Unit. This position is fast-paced, with high expectations and significantly diverse assignments and can be worked remote.

Essential Functions:

Supplier Management

  • Monitor supplier quality and reliability, as well as supplier ability to support required delivery schedules.
  • Employs sound business practices and assesses supplier performance as part of follow-up activities.
  • Facilitate new supplier onboarding and interface with Vendor Administration and suppliers to oversee completion of registration processes.
  • Work with suppliers to maintain regular vendor maintenance and annual certifications.
  • Procurement
    • The supply chain procurement specialist will track and monitor procurements that are critical to program execution with urgency.
    • Issue and maintain purchase orders in accordance with Company Principles and Operating Practices (PrOP).
    • Evaluate and analyze proposed pricing from potential suppliers for goods and services as well as identify opportunities to reduce cost, improve efficiency, and manage risk through targeted negotiations.
  • Accounts Payable
    • Interface with stakeholders and accounting for payment resolution.
    • Ensures that appropriate documentation is provided to receiving inspection organization so that proper receipt is recorded.
    • Review open invoices and approve supplier payment as needed.
  • Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with GSC policies and procedures including cybersecurity regulations.
    • Must have good oral and written communication skills and be able present delivery status information to both function and program leadership.
    • Works well both internal and external customers adaptable to a dynamic work environment.
    • Collaborate with Suppliers and Cyber Security team to ensure supplier compliance.
    • Interface and collaborate with Programs and other organizations within and outside of Global Supply Chain.

Basic Qualifications: 

Senior Principal Supply Chain Procurement Specialist (4)

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of procurement experience or a Master's degree and minimum of 6 years of procurement experience; or a minimum of 12 years of procurement experience maybe considered in lieu of a degree
  • Experience with procurement policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Experience with FAR/DFARS and associated Federal Contracting regulations
  • United States Citizen

  • Experience with International Procurements under US Govt. prime contracts
  • Experience working issues related to Import / Export of materials and technology
  • Experience with SAP procurement systems

Primary Level Salary Range: $97,100.00 - $145,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
