The Sr. Principal SAP Analyst is accountable for the following responsibilities across SAP Finance solution design, delivery, and team mentoring:

Roles and Responsibilities:

Solution Design & Configuration

  • Partner with Accounting, Finance, and business stakeholders to translate current and future business processes into SAP Finance requirements and practical solutions.
  • Serve as a hands-on SAP Finance configuration resource across ECC and S/4HANA Finance, designing, configuring, testing, and supporting solutions.
  • Support and lead assigned phases of the project life cycle, including process analysis, solution design, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-production support.

Delivery & Cross-Functional Support

  • Review, prioritize, and close service requests, production support issues, enhancements, and project deliverables in line with business processes and SAP best practices.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional processes and projects, including intercompany processes, integrations, and Finance-related dependencies across teams.
  • Define work plans, estimate effort, and communicate status, risks, and issues to business and IT leadership.

Leadership & Mentoring

  • Mentor and guide functional and analytical team members while remaining actively hands-on in analysis, configuration, testing, and support.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

Knowledge

  • Deep hands-on knowledge of SAP Finance across legacy ECC and S/4HANA, including configuration, testing, production support, and enhancements.
  • Strong knowledge of US and international accounting principles, including GAAP and IFRS.
  • Expert command of SAP Finance and Controlling modules — GL, AR, AP, AA, PC, PCA, CCA, IO, PA — and related business-process integration.
  • Experience with CO-PA, CO-PCA, and SAP FSCM, including Dispute, Collections, and Credit Management.

Skills

  • Able to analyze complex business needs and deliver practical SAP Finance solutions through configuration, functional design, and testing.
  • Skilled at facilitating business-process discussions, requirements workshops, and solution reviews with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong project and work-management skills across service requests, enhancements, and larger initiatives.
  • Able to document and improve Finance and intercompany business processes within SAP.

Abilities

  • Able to mentor and guide others while contributing directly to hands-on SAP Finance delivery.
  • Comfortable balancing day-to-day production support with larger project initiatives in a global environment.
  • Familiarity with retail integrations (Shopify, GK-POS, SAP CAR), third-party tax tools (Vertex, Avalara), SAP Analytics Cloud, and S/4HANA Material Ledger is a plus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Management Information Systems, Business, Accounting, or a related field, plus 10 years of experience in SAP Finance or business process analysis.
  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on SAP Finance experience across SAP ECC or S/4HANA — implementation, enhancement, and production support in a team environment; one or more years of S/4HANA preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years leading workstreams, mentoring functional team members, or coordinating complex SAP Finance initiatives while remaining hands-on.
  • Courses or certifications in SAP ECC or S/4HANA Finance are a plus.
