Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector is currently hiring a Sr. Principal Project Management professional in the Strike portfolio to join our team. This project management position will support a restricted effort in Palmdale, CA. Teleworking is not available.
Role Description:
The selected candidate will report to the RISE team, and support and track cost reduction initiatives and serves as liaison between project owners and program management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project owners and supporting organizations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Project management tasks to oversee, report progress and drive closure on 10+ projects.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining project schedules and project progression metrics. Responsible in assisting project owners in developing project closure criteria and developing a project schedule that gets you there.
- Coordinate across functions to break constraints.
- Responsible for identifying and vocalizing help needed to break constraints that could delay project progression. Candidate will be expected to reach out to various functions to answer questions and coordinate tasks.
- Assist in development of project budget and schedule.
- Responsible to assist project owners in creating a project schedule and estimate EP needed for successful project execution.
- Track execution and projected performance to budget and schedule
- Once budget and schedules are assigned, candidate will be responsible for tracking and reporting budget and schedule data. Candidate will be responsible to coordinate budget and schedule status with project owners and assist in accurately forecasting estimate at completion.
- Document artifacts needed for proof of completion, future training/reference, etc.
- Responsible for developing project closure criteria and templates to assist project owners in documenting relevant project information. Responsible for storing closure packages in an organized folder structure.
- Host status/progress reviews on their assigned projects to capture updates, help needed and action completion.
- Responsible for capturing project health and developing return to green plans with the project owners.
Basic Qualifications, Sr. Principal Project Management:
- Bachelor's Degree with 10 years of related professional experience; master's degree with 8 years of related professional experience.
- Active DoD Secret clearance within 4 years of last investigation / adjudication.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project)
- Knowledge of Project Management principles
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active DoD Secret clearance
- Current Special Program Access
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment
- Aerospace and/or Defense Industry Experience
Salary range: $109,900 - $164,900
Salary Range: $109,900.00 - $164,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
