The Sr Principal Project Engineer is responsible for overall operational and management responsibility in completing the project, to manage and deliver the project objectives in relation to safety, quality, cost, timing, profitability & cash. This role will also manages the complete budget (investments, hours and travel expenses), report on project matters to the Steering Committee and lead the project team to ensure flawless execution of the CAPEX project in alignment with the business objectives and ensure all of this project according to corporate guidelines.
Core Responsibilities:
- Designing and implementing large capital projects as identified and assigned, within budget and on time,delivering targeted return on investment and in compliance with engineering standards and specifications.
- Supervising and executing large capital projects, establishing, and meeting budget, scheduling, and supervising project activity, training personnel, supervising commissioning and start-up, and coordinating with all departments.
- Review and recommend appropriate equipment and systems for new projects and existing installations to ensure that they comply with known safety best practices, applicable codes and standards.
- Maintain a high level of awareness of current and emerging equipment technologies and make recommendations on their application to improve profitability of operations worldwide.
- Provide the technical and procurement support required for the negotiations of national and international contracts for selected manufacturing supplies and equipment, capital purchases, engineering services, and construction services that will ensure cost effectiveness to all locations served by the contracts.
- Use data and findings to support broader and cross functional business recommendations.
- Maintain the Company’s intellectual property to ensure competitiveness through proper record retention, mentoring engineers, and preparation of best practices and design manuals, standards, and specifications.

- Provide coaching and develop tools to improve engineering and project management skills throughout the entire organization.
- Safety: Liaise with Government Agencies on all the required permits and licenses ensuring strict compliance for the overall project scope enable to allow the production team to start-up the plant in normal operations mode. Ensure a safe working environment in compliance with Ingredion safety requirements and APAC Life Caring Rules. Enforce a zero-tolerance culture against violating these rules/requirements. The Safety objective is zero incidents.
- Engineering: Direct project in compliance with company ethics, safety, and engineering standards. Integrate corporate best practices and standards in the local engineering approach.
- Customer Support: Acts as the project liaison for internal and external customers.
- Technology: Leverage on new and emerging process technologies available (internal and external) to supplement current knowledge thereby maximizing synergies. Share latest process technology information and technical opportunities to accelerate program development.
- Budgets: Prepare and ensure execution of Project Execution plan. Manages and delivers the project objectives: Safety Quality, Cost, Timing, Profitability & Cash. Accountable for cost estimates. Review scope changes and ensure these changes will not exceed overall project budget in cost and schedule.
- Workstreams: Besides the Engineering workstream accountable for all other project workstreams e.g. Ready to Operate (RTO), Supply Chain (incl ERP), validation
- Process Support: Work closely with external and internal stakeholders to be able to give sound guidance and solutions in executing the project. Conduct an in-depth study and series of strategies and options together with Project team and Support Group to ensure agreed and timely accomplishment of project objectives and plans.
Qualified candidates will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical)
- Minimum 7 years of engineering experience demonstrating successful implementation of solutions, including effective project management of large-scale projects over $25MM and experience directing outside consultants and assisting with the management and supervision of junior engineers. (Brownfield or greenfield experience is a must have)
- Substantial experience in manufacturing, engineering, and/or project execution.
- Knowledge of engineering and unit operations relevant to the Wet Milling industry, such as basic chemistry, heat and material balances, P&ID development, mechanical and physical/chemical separations, evaporation, crystallization, drying, material handling, CGMP, and energy management.
- Demonstrated application of sound judgment, resourcefulness, initiative and innovation in handling complex technical assignments and integrating those solutions with business needs into decision making with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability of influencing others towards positive change both inside and outside the direct chain of command. Must be a decisive, goals-oriented individual, capable of independent decision making with the ability to successfully meet targeted goals, on time and within budgetary constraints.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prepare effective presentations, present tests and results, and write concise reports. Ability to train and work effectively with all experience levels.
- Ability to work effectively with people from different cultures to accomplish business objectives. Proven ability to lead and facilitate in a team environment and build consensus in a positive manner with team members and customers.
- Strong interpersonal skills suited to task force and consulting assignments and to directing or influencing others (both inside and outside the direct chain of command) with the ability to interface effectively with team members, management, customers and vendors.
- Fluency in English, and preferably Hindi
