Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Sr Principal Engineer Embedded Software based out of Melbourne, Florida.

This position is contingent upon funding/contract award.

What You’ll Get To Do:

Be part of our dynamic Field Engineering team. We’re seeking a highly motivated, self-starting engineer who enjoys troubleshooting and solving complex problems, with a strong desire to understand how the system operates. In this role, you will manipulate bench software to diagnose hardware issues, write scripts to automate tasks, and develop both System Under Test (SUT) and threat emitter scenario files. You will also assist the customer in troubleshooting SUT and scenario files that affect their testing, including debugging related software issues.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Interact independently with customers and coordinate engineering efforts within the company to identify solutions to customer reported problems.

  • Provide Engineering support to resolve system-level problems reported by the customer on delivered hardware.

  • Maintain operational status and configuration of Electronic Warfare Stimulators.

  • Utilize knowledge, special test equipment (STE), and instrumented data to troubleshoot and/or perform field repair of hardware failures

  • Coordinate return of failed hardware to be repaired at the Amherst Facility.

  • Support customer missions, monitor and convey stimulator performance and assist with generating new emitters.

  • Generate weekly status reports documenting test events and anomalies warranting further investigation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience; or Master's Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.

  • Direct experience in the operation and maintenance of Combat Electromagnetic Environment Simulators (CEESIM).

  • Experience in the design, development, testing, operation, and maintenance of software/firmware and computing systems integrated with engineering, scientific, and/or manufacturing requirements.

  • Experience applying software engineering standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to deliver applications and products such as, laboratory simulation systems and display systems.

  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a calm, patient demeanor in front of the customer.

  • Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing up to 30 lbs.

  • Ability to travel domestically (up to 10%).

  • Must be willing to work flexible shift schedules including weekends and 2nd shift.

  • US Citizenship and current/active U.S. Government Secret clearance is required. Must also have the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret and SAP clearances.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Computer Science.

  • Experience with Python/Perl, XML, and Linux OS.

  • U.S. military electronic school in RF communications, electronic warfare or RADAR.

  • Experience programming Electronic Warfare (EW) systems utilizing the Electronic Warfare Integrated Reprogramming Database (EWIRDB).

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Linux from the command line.

  • Experience interfacing with customers, suppliers, application users, and technical/support personnel, including travel to customer sites for installation and support of software applications.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with RF/electrical test equipment, spectrum analyzer, power meter, oscilloscope and digital multi-meters.

  • Test Engineering or Electronics background that includes a high degree of aptitude in hardware troubleshooting.

Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
