About the Role
We’re building the next generation of airport security screening solutions—leveraging breakthroughs in machine learning, deep learning, 3D imaging, and open network architectures. We’re looking for a Principal Engineer & Technical Leader to define the vision and lead a high-impact engineering team from early concept through full product realization. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll shape both technology strategy and execution, making critical contributions across our aviation security business.
If you thrive at the intersection of science, software, and real-world application, and enjoy turning complex challenges into deployable solutions, this role is for you.
What You’ll Do
- Lead & Inspire: Guide a team of engineers in developing advanced threat detection algorithms using machine learning, deep learning, and classical approaches
- Drive Innovation: Create novel, high-impact solutions for complex detection and classification challenges
- Own the Vision: Define technical strategy, project scope, milestones, and execution plans
- Build the Future: Develop tools and methodologies for data analysis, testing, and explainable AI
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with internal teams and stakeholders to align on goals and deliverables
- Deliver Results: Manage technical risks, ensure timelines are met, and contribute to high-value commercial products
- Communicate Clearly: Translate complex technical ideas into clear documentation, reports, and presentations

- Strong expertise in:
- Machine vision, data science, and software engineering
- Object detection and classification problems
- Algorithm development (traditional + ML + deep learning)
- Hands-on experience with tools like Python, MATLAB, C++, and Excel across Windows and Linux environments
- Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras (CUDA experience is a plus)
- Experience with explainable AI is a plus
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence across teams
Bonus: Experience with aviation or military threat detection
Additional Requirements
