Job Description
The Platform, Engineer V builds large-scale systems and creates robust and scalable platforms used by every team.
This includes building the data transport, collection, and orchestration layers.
The role shapes the vision for the next-generation infrastructure, making it easy for developers to build data-driven products and features.
These efforts will allow accessibility to business and user behavior insights.
How you will contribute:
* Build and maintain high-performance, fault-tolerant, secure, and scalable platforms
* Partner with architects and business leaders to design and build robust services using storage layer, streaming, and batch data
* Think through long-term impacts of key design decisions and handle failure scenarios
* Form a holistic understanding of tools, key business concepts (data tables), and the data dependencies and team dependencies
* Help drive storage layer and API features roadmap as well as be responsible for the overall engineering (design, implementation, and testing)
* Build self-service platforms to empower users
* Lead development of high-leverage projects and capabilities of the platform
Skills and qualifications:
* Utilizes DevSecOps tools and methodologies to enhance security and operational processes
* Designs and implements effective data models to improve data accessibility and utility
* Applies Agile and SDLC methodologies to optimize software development lifecycle
* Develops algorithms and data structures to solve complex problems
* Integrates systems to ensure smooth data flow and functionality across platforms
* Programs using languages such as SQL, Python, Scala, Java, and C++ for various data engineering tasks
* Deploys and manages applications on cloud platforms using tools like Kubernetes
* Works with distributed data technologies like Spark and Hadoop to handle large data sets
* Leads system integration efforts to ensure seamless connectivity between various software systems
As an experienced professional, you specialize in solving various complex problems, sometimes referring to established precedents and policies. Your work involves analyzing diverse data and selecting appropriate methods for solutions, while networking with senior professionals in your field. You possess a complete understanding of principles, concepts, and industry practices, exerting some influence on organizational objectives. You often work independently under general direction, occasionally leading small project teams, and may represent the organization in contractual or project matters, interacting with senior internal and external personnel. You might also participate in training junior staff.
