Job Description:
Pacific Life is investing in innovative technology solutions to help our business move confidently into the future. We are seeking a talented Senior Platform Engineer to join our Enterprise Technology team. This role will be responsible for designing, engineering, and supporting enterprise platform capabilities focused on workload orchestration and managed file transfer services that enable critical business processes across Pacific Life. This role will be based in our Newport Beach, CA office.
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will collaborate with application teams, architects, infrastructure engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable platform solutions. You will help establish engineering standards, drive platform modernization efforts, and ensure operational excellence across enterprise services.
How You'll Help Move Us Forward
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise platform capabilities supporting workload orchestration and managed file transfer services.
- Partner with business and technology teams to understand requirements and deliver secure, scalable solutions that meet enterprise needs.
- Develop and promote reusable platform patterns, engineering standards, and best practices that enhance consistency and operational efficiency.
- Integrate applications and workloads into enterprise orchestration platforms while ensuring reliability, performance, and resiliency.
- Contribute to the team's shared backlog by delivering new capabilities, system enhancements, lifecycle upgrades, and operational improvements.
- Ensure enterprise platforms meet availability, security, governance, risk management, and compliance requirements.
- Monitor platform health and proactively identify opportunities to improve system performance, stability, and operational readiness.
- Create and maintain technical architecture documentation, support procedures, standards, and knowledge articles.
- Drive operational excellence by implementing monitoring, alerting, recovery strategies, and support models for delivered solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise technology platforms.
- Experience with workload orchestration, job scheduling, automation platforms, or managed file transfer technologies.
- Strong understanding of enterprise systems integration, operational support, and platform engineering principles.
- Experience implementing solutions in highly regulated environments with a focus on security, governance, and risk management.
- Ability to analyze complex technical challenges and develop scalable, reliable solutions.
- Experience working in Agile environments and managing work through prioritized backlogs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
