Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Performance Engineer that will help ensure that Aptos solutions perform optimally by helping design, develop and execute performance scenarios, analyze performance metrics, and collaborate with others to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks under various conditions.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience in performance engineering, with a recent focus on cloud environments (e.g. AWS EKS, AWS ECS)
- Excellent knowledge of performance testing tools and frameworks (e.g. JMeter, LoadRunner)
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Python) and Java and/or Groovy
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch)
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and best practices
- Solid understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
- Good understanding of relational database and NoSQL databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, CrateDB, Couchbase)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, for various audience types
- Strong collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment
Additional Skills:
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g. Jenkins, Harness)
Key Responsibilities:
Performance Metrics:
- Design, develop/maintain, and execute performance strategies and scenarios to gather, evaluate and diagnose system behavior under various conditions
Performance Tuning:
- Use monitoring tools to query and track system performance metrics
- Analyze performance data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement
- Investigate performance concerns and work closely with appropriate teams to communicate findings and potential solutions, including environmental configuration settings required to achieve optimal performance and resource usage
- Determine and recommend configurations to achieve optimal application and system performance for given situations/constraints
Documentation & Reporting:
- Document performance scenario strategies and results with actionable insights to improve the system
Continuous Learning:
- Stay current with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies in performance engineering and cloud architectures
- Help drive the adoption of performance engineering best practices
