Position Description:

Responsible for processing payroll in an accurate and timely manner for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities, as well as maintaining complete and thorough supporting documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Runs on cycle payroll and uses reports to validate accuracy before submitting to Payroll Manager for review.
  • Prepares manual pay, pay cards, and termination checks via check calculation application.
  • Performs a review of payroll data before and after payroll is transmitted.
  • Responsible for informing Management of issues that allow them to properly provide financial information to the corporation.
  • Coordinates with the Human Resources and Information Technology departments to ensure that any major changes that affect payroll are accurately reflected in the payroll system, such as benefit deductions, accrual changes, timekeeping system changes/updates, HRIS updates, tax withholding changes, etc.
  • Communicates effectively with outside payroll provider, as necessary, to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Provides high level customer service to Team Members, vendors and management, in response to phone calls and tickets assigned to the payroll team. Proactively researches issues and provides recommended resolutions to issues identified.
  • Processes and maintains detailed records of all court-ordered wage orders, including child support, garnishments, and tax levies.
  • Ensures all processed transactions are properly documented and approved.
  • Prepares and maintains supporting documentation for all payroll information entered manually.
  • Maintains payroll related reports, having a pre-established format where the data is easily accessible.
  • Prepares special reports and performs special projects as requested by Management in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Responsible for keeping up-to-date on payroll and benefits tax laws and regulations that affect the organization.
  • Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.

  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications  

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3 years’ experience processing payroll for 1,500+ employees.
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll regulations and wage & hour laws.
  • Experience running payroll in Workday is strongly preferred.
  • Prior work experience using MS Office skills, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience using payroll and timekeeping related software (i.e. ADP, Kronos, etc.).
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to speak and read English proficiently.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position.

Skills Required
