Job Summary:

Delivers proactive support of payroll programs, policies, processes, and applications. Applies working knowledge and understanding of payroll principles to assist team members, managers and customers

This position is on-site, in Phoenix, AZ following a hybrid schedule.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Provides first level response support to managers, team members, employees and other customers
  • Receives inquiries and responds to requests following appropriate policies and practices; provides basic interpretation of HR policies
  • Assist in payroll processing including overtime computations, mandatory contributions, benefits deductions and payroll taxes
  • Monitors and ensures proper documentation of employee benefit payments
  • Prepares reports illustrating payroll expenditures, including such items as tax payments and benefit plan disbursements
  • Establishes standards and procedures for handling transactions and administration of payroll operations, including tax setups and amendment processing
  • Serves as liaison to employees related to pay questions and resolves pay issues demonstrating strong customer service, conflict resolution and communication skills
  • Reviews payroll audit reports, identifies root causes, and leads efforts to remedy errors and prevent recurrence
  • Inputs or maintains data relevant to processing employee data changes, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Maintains documentation or records within appropriate HR/Payroll systems and supports knowledge-sharing across the team
  • Determines best method(s) to resolve issues ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to organization policies and practices as well as legal regulations
  • Works cross-functionally with other departments (as required) to coordinate customer resolution and process improvements
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Level Specifications:

  • Mastery knowledge of the job, practices and procedures, as well as how it affects the organization. Develops process improvement for a wide variety of tasks.
  • Consistently works on highly complex problems requiring independent action and decision-making. Determines best course of action to resolve problems and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Work is performed under little or no guidance and assigned in the form of broad objectives. Significant creativity and ingenuity are expected to recommend solutions to complex problems and additional challenges. May act as informal team lead and/or coach less experienced team members.
  • Frequent collaboration with management, external contacts and/or other teams. Coordinates efforts with other departments for optimal efficiency. May act as a point of contact for individuals internally and/or externally.

Work Experience:

  • Typically requires a minimum of eight years of related experience.

Education and Certification(s):

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Distinguishing Characteristics:

  • CPP or equivalent experience
  • ADP Workforce Now / Workforce Manager experience preferred
