This role is assigned to the Registered Product legal team within Nuveen’s Law group. This position provides support to internal investment product legal professionals primarily by working with a team to update and file investment company disclosure documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”). This will include conforming and reviewing documents and maintaining internal databases and files.


Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Updating and conforming disclosure through a content management system for various investment products.

  • Working with a disclosure team of lawyers and legal assistants to make timely SEC filings and final typeset documents.

  • Working with external and internal sources to update information in disclosure documents and to facilitate various reviews of such documents prior to filing.

  • Coordinating with a disclosure team to work on disclosure related to new regulations or changed circumstance.

  • Assisting lawyers with various tasks as needed, such as organizing and maintaining files, obtaining required signatures, and researching various issues.

  • Coordinating with other lawyers, legal assistants and other business and support staff to maintain various investment products and help resolve issues; and

  • Assisting with legal department and other projects as assigned.

Educational Requirements

  • University (Degree) Preferred

Required Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience working as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant or Law Clerk

Preferred Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience working as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant or Law Clerk

  • Bachelor's degree or paralegal certification

  • Financial services industry experience

  • Previous experience as a paralegal working for a law firm or in-house corporate law department

  • Working understanding of corporate/securities/asset management law

  • Experience related to investment advisers, mutual funds and other investment products

  • Strong attention to detail, responsiveness, and ability to take the initiative.

  • Ability to prioritize and handle numerous competing demands in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment, frequently under urgent deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and as a team-ability to work with people directly and indirectly.

Anticipated Posting End Date:

Base Pay Range: $36.81/hr. - $55.34/hr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
