Remote Location MexicoSr. Oracle DBA & System Administrator (Oracle E-Business Suite R12 on Exadata)
The Sr. Oracle DBA & System Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, administration and ongoing optimization of Oracle E-Business Suite R12 databases running on Oracle Exadata hardware. As a Sr. Oracle DBA & System Administrator, you will ensure availability, performance, backup/recovery and secure operations of the EBS database and related infrastructure; provide technical leadership; lead and develop automation efforts for database provisioning, patching, monitoring and deployment; and transfer knowledge to the broader team. This role requires 10+ years of hands-on experience supporting Oracle E-Business Suite R12 and Exadata environments.
What You Will Do:
Administer and support Oracle E-Business Suite R12 databases and related components on Oracle Exadata hardware.
Install, configure, patch and upgrade Oracle databases, Grid Infrastructure, ASM and related components necessary for EBS R12.
Implement and maintain end-to-end monitoring using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM): configure alerts, metrics, reports and dashboards for database and application availability, performance and capacity.
Design, document and operate robust backup and restore procedures (RMAN, Data Guard where applicable), and validate recovery procedures with regular restore tests.
Create, document and execute cloning procedures for Dev/Test/QA/DR environments (Rapid Clone, AD utilities, RMAN-based clones), including automation where appropriate.
Configure and tune the database and application tier to support high-volume parallel concurrent processing (Concurrent Manager tuning, parallel execution settings, resource allocation and scheduling).
Configure and support model routing within the EBS environment, including setup and management of additional application servers and routing of concurrent processing across servers.
Perform performance monitoring, capacity planning and proactive tuning (SQL tuning, instance parameters, resource management).
Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents; perform root cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
Maintain security, user access controls, patching cycles and compliance for databases and Exadata systems.
Provide technical leadership and knowledge transfer: create runbooks, standard operating procedures, train and mentor other DBAs and system administrators.
Work with cross-functional teams (applications, network, storage, middleware) for deployments, upgrades, DR tests and major incidents.
Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support as required.
Travel to data centers or other company locations for deployments, DR testing or hardware upgrades as needed.
Lead efforts to automate database lifecycle activities using standard tools and practices.
Lead architecture and design reviews for new EBS/Exadata projects, upgrades or migrations
Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams on audits (PCI, SOX) and enforce database-related security controls
Evaluate new Exadata features Oracle releases and third-party tools, and provide recommendations to leadership
Develop and maintain capacity-planning models, cost analyses and lifecycle roadmaps for database infrastructure
Own the development and maintenance of runbooks, playbooks and knowledge-base articles for self-service
Participate in cross-team post-incident reviews and continuous improvement activities.
What You Need to Succeed:
Minimum 10+ years’ hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA & System Administrator supporting Oracle E-Business Suite R12.
Proven experience with Oracle Exadata hardware (installation, configuration, tuning, patching and troubleshooting).
Strong experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and administration.
Solid expertise with RMAN backups, recovery scenarios, disaster recovery concepts; experience with Data Guard is a plus.
Experience designing and executing cloning procedures for EBS environments (Rapid Clone, AD utilities, RMAN, hot/cold clones).
Experience configuring and tuning databases and application tiers for parallel concurrent processing and Concurrent Manager optimization.
Experience implementing and supporting model routing in EBS and configuring additional application servers to support routing and workload distribution.
Strong knowledge of ASM, Grid Infrastructure, Oracle RAC, Linux for Oracle, and storage/networking concepts as they relate to Exadata.
Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL and shell scripting (bash); experience with automation/orchestration tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.) and CI/CD is a plus.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience creating technical documentation and conducting knowledge transfer.
Oracle certifications (OCA/OCP/OCE) are preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Must be able to participate in an on-call rotation and travel to data centers or other sites as required.
Hands-on experience with automation/orchestration tools beyond basic scripting
Familiarity with cloud or hybrid Exadata-Cloud architectures (OCI, AWS RDS, Azure)
Proficiency in a general-purpose scripting language (Python, Perl) for complex automation tasks
Understanding of database security standards and best practices (encryption-at-rest, key management)
Strong collaboration and stakeholder-management skills—able to translate technical concepts for business partners
Oracle Exadata Database Machine Administrator or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure certifications (preferred)
