What You'll Do:
Reporting directly to the Senior Director of North American DC Operations, the Senior Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing a distribution center/warehouse, transportation, and logistics for Munchkin's Canadian facility. The Senior Operations Manager will utilize continuous improvement strategies and ensure transportation and distribution policies are aligned with the Company's overall business plan and industry best practices.

  • Works with senior leaders to help improve customer satisfaction, distribution performance, and customer retention
  • Improves distribution operational efficiency
  • Develops and implements a distribution strategy that will allow the company to keep its competitive edge through distribution and logical excellence
  • Negotiates and communicates effectively with suppliers/vendors, outsourcers, programmers, and other organizations within the region on strategic and operational issues and concerns
  • Evaluates and understands all components of the operation; Inbound, inventory control, order processing stages from entry to customer delivery, and product return
  • Collaborates with internal departments and drive continuous process improvement
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves a wide range of issues, providing quick and decisive solutions within the context of existing policies and identifying the need for revision or creation of policies
  • Assesses warehouse management technologies to drive operation effectiveness and efficiency in the distribution centers including becoming a superuser with the WMS in place
  • Directs distribution activities, administration, and execution as necessary
  • Develops policies and procedures for distribution processes to ensure optimization and compliance with standards and regulations
  • Drives continuous improvement in the areas of increasing productivity and avoiding cost including coordinating the correct headcount and training policies
  • Coordinates growth and expansion strategies among multi-departmental levels in support of corporate growth activities
  • Directs the overall safety functions of the distribution center


Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Responsibilities also include participating on day to day duties and being hands on when necessary to meet business goals.
Bring It!

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience (in lieu of education) and 6-10 years of experience managing distribution/logistics centers, including supervisory experience, in a fast-paced consumer products environment
  • Advanced knowledge of Warehouse Management Software (WMS) and bar code technology. Must have direct WMS implementation experience with a top ERP system (Oracle/SAP WMS modules) and/or top WMS application product (Manhattan Associates, Red Prairie). Preferred implementation lead for Catalyst, Manhattan & Associates or other WMS software
  • Prior experience managing domestic and international transportation of consumer goods
  • Logistics knowledge of ocean freight, small package, and customs compliance
  • Experience negotiating in LTL and small package suppliers (FedEx and/or UPS)
  • Candidate must possess an ability to think strategically, have strong communication skills and presentation skills, have a proven track record in delivering results (driving down distribution cost as a percentage of sales), maintain strong leadership/staff management experience, and have the ability to set clear direction while navigating through a very collaborative work environment
  • Must be willing to travel if necessary
