Position Summary

The Senior Microsoft Dynamics 365 Platform Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration, stability, security, and lifecycle management of the enterprise Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform.

This role serves as the primary technical administrator for D365 and works closely with business functional teams, IT technical teams, Microsoft, implementation partners, and managed service providers to ensure the platform remains stable, secure, supportable, and aligned with enterprise standards.

The role will initially support the Corporate Dynamics 365 implementation and will ultimately have enterprise responsibility for the D365 platform as additional segments and capabilities—including Finance, Supply Chain, and Warehouse Management—are deployed.

Key ResponsibilitiesD365 Platform Administration
  • Serve as the primary administrator for Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Manage Development, Test/SIT, UAT, and Production environments.
  • Manage environment configuration, refreshes, copies, backups, restores, and other lifecycle activities.
  • Administer D365 through the appropriate Microsoft administration tools, including Power Platform Admin Center and Lifecycle Services (LCS).
  • Monitor platform health, capacity, system performance, batch processing, and recurring jobs.
  • Troubleshoot application and platform issues and coordinate resolution with Microsoft or external support partners when needed.
  • Maintain platform configuration and technical documentation.
Security & Access
  • Administer users, roles, duties, privileges, and security assignments.
  • Support role-based access controls and least privilege standards.
  • Support segregation-of-duties (SOD), user access reviews, and SOX control requirements.
  • Coordinate D365 access with Microsoft Entra ID and enterprise identity processes.
  • Assist with security troubleshooting and access-related incidents.
  • Maintain documentation supporting security and audit requirements.
Release & Environment Management
  • Coordinate D365 releases, updates, patches, and deployments.
  • Manage movement of solutions and changes through Development, Test, UAT, and Production.
  • Support Azure DevOps and established CI/CD processes.
  • Coordinate release schedules with functional teams, developers, integration teams, and implementation partners.
  • Validate environments following deployments, refreshes, updates, and maintenance.
  • Support Microsoft One Version/service update planning and testing.
Application Support
  • Provide Level 2/Level 3 technical support for D365.
  • Troubleshoot configuration, environment, security, batch, workflow, integration, and performance issues.
  • Work with functional analysts to determine whether issues are configuration, data, integration, custom-code, or platform related.
  • Escalate product issues to Microsoft and manage them through resolution.
  • Coordinate with managed service providers and implementation partners where additional expertise is required.
  • Identify recurring issues and opportunities to improve platform stability and supportability.
Integrations & Technical Coordination
  • Monitor and troubleshoot integrations between D365 and enterprise applications.
  • Work with integration and data teams supporting APIs, Dataverse, Azure services, Fabric/Databricks, file-based integrations, and other integration technologies.
  • Assist with service accounts, endpoints, authentication, connectivity, and integration security.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting across D365, integration, data, and external application teams.
  • Maintain awareness of integration dependencies when planning D365 releases and environment changes.
Platform Governance
  • Maintain D365 technical and administrative standards.
  • Help establish consistent environment, security, release, and support processes.
  • Participate in D365 platform governance and change management.
  • Maintain system inventories, environment documentation, configuration standards, and support procedures.
  • Work with architecture and development teams to ensure extensions and customizations follow established standards.
  • Help reduce unnecessary customization and technical debt.
  • Support future D365 implementations and onboarding of additional business units/legal entities.
Partner & Vendor Management
  • Coordinate technical activities with Microsoft, implementation partners, and managed service providers.
  • Review partner technical recommendations and ensure they align with internal standards.
  • Assist with transitioning knowledge and responsibilities from implementation partners to internal IT.
  • Ensure documentation and operational knowledge are maintained internally.
  • Reduce long-term dependency on implementation partners for routine D365 administration.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Microsoft Dynamics AX environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience administering Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
  • Experience managing D365 environments, security, users, roles, batch jobs, releases, and application lifecycle activities.
  • Experience with Power Platform Admin Center and Dynamics Lifecycle Services (LCS).
  • Understanding of Dynamics 365 role-based security.
  • Experience troubleshooting D365 application and technical issues.
  • Understanding of D365 integrations, APIs, Dataverse, and Microsoft Azure technologies.
  • Experience working with Azure DevOps or similar development/release management tools.
  • Understanding of enterprise change management and release management practices.
  • Ability to work effectively with functional analysts, developers, integration teams, infrastructure/security teams, business users, and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Dynamics 365 Finance.
  • Experience with Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management.
  • Experience supporting D365 in a multi-company or multi-legal-entity environment.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing organizations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Familiarity with Azure integration services.

  • Experience supporting SOX-controlled applications.
  • Experience transitioning D365 implementations from project teams to operational support.
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 certifications are preferred.

Salary Range is $130,000 - $160,000 + annual bonus opportunity.

Location: Hybrid in office 3-4 days/week and 1-2 days/week remote.
