Introduction:

GlobalFoundries is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior IT Operations Manager to lead operational excellence for technology services supporting our global Design and Engineering (DE) organization. Based in Bangalore, India, this individual will serve as the primary operations leader responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, availability, and continuous improvement of infrastructure, platforms, applications, laboratories, developer environments, and engineering services utilized by DE teams worldwide. The successful candidate will act as the operational bridge between engineering, infrastructure, cloud, networking, cybersecurity, application support, and managed service providers to ensure seamless delivery of IT services that enable semiconductor product design, software development, validation, simulation, testing, and engineering innovation.

This role requires strong leadership, technical depth, operational discipline, vendor management experience, and a customer-focused mindset. The individual will drive service reliability, operational governance, capacity planning, KPI reporting, incident management, problem management, request management and continuous service improvement across a diverse and globally distributed technology landscape.

R&D Operations Leadership

  • Serve as the operational leader for IT services supporting the global DE organization.
  • Develop strong partnerships with engineering leaders, lab managers, software development teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for operational health, service delivery, and escalation management across DE environments.
  • Drive a customer-centric culture focused on engineering productivity and business outcomes.
  • Lead service reviews and operational governance meetings with stakeholders and service providers.

Infrastructure & Platform Operations

Provide operational oversight across:

Network Services

  • Research and development networks
  • Office and laboratory connectivity
  • WAN and cloud connectivity
  • Network performance and capacity management

Data Center Services

  • Compute infrastructure
  • Storage platforms
  • Backup and recovery services
  • Virtualization platforms

Cloud Services

  • Collaboration and requirements management tools
  • Engineering software repositories
  • Software quality and security scanning platforms

Service Management & Operational Excellence

  • Lead Major Incident Management activities impacting DE operations.
  • Ensure timely resolution of incidents, problems, and service requests.
  • Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA / 5 Whys / 8 Disciplines) and corrective action plans.
  • Implement and improve ITIL-based operational processes.
  • Establish operational runbooks and standard operating procedures.
  • Develop operational metrics and service level reporting.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure operational compliance with corporate policies and security standards.
  • Partner with cybersecurity teams on vulnerability remediation and risk management.
  • Support audit and compliance initiatives.
  • Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning activities.

Financial & Capacity Management

  • Develop operational forecasts and resource plans.
  • Assist with budgeting and financial planning activities for R&D technology services.
  • Track utilization trends and future capacity requirements.
  • Support business case development for infrastructure and service investments.
