Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, maintenance, and configuration management of site building mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, creativity, and leadership to site projects involving air handlers, chillers, boilers, pumping systems, and many other mechanical systems. Candidate should have experience managing and troubleshooting mechanical and control systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical design and development efforts from concept through production.
- Create and review AutoCad design documents and submittals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, systems, software, manufacturing) to ensure mechanical designs meet all functional and environmental requirements.
- Conduct analyses to validate proposed mechanical designs will function in operational environments.
- Develop and maintain site documentation.
- Troubleshoot design and maintenance issues, recommending and implementing corrective actions. Prepare AutoCAD construction drawings and prepare site-specific specifications.
Basic Qualifications
- TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance is required
- Requires Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical systems design, including HVAC and plumbing, for commercial, industrial, and/or government facilities
- Strong working knowledge of applicable building codes, energy standards, and industry regulations
- Proven ability to perform heating and cooling load calculations, ductwork sizing and layout, piping system design and distribution, and equipment sizing and selection
- Demonstrated expertise in CAD tools such as AutoCad.
- Proven track record of developing mechanical systems for commercial HVAC systems. Ability to discuss project related items with stakeholders, contractors, and related authorities.
- FMCS systems familiarity.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain licensure within one year of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience troubleshooting and fixing controls systems.
