JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Take a central role in analyzing and managing market risks on trading floors, conducting advanced stress testing, assessing exposure limits, and evaluating value at risk (VaR) to fortify risk management strategies. Contribute to the development of sophisticated risk models, offer strategic insights into market dynamics, and provide guidance to junior analysts in their daily responsibilities. Play a key role in facilitating informed decision-making and ensuring regulatory compliance across the organization.

KEY DUTIES and  RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead daily risk control process and risk reports; working alongside with traders, operators and IT to manage market risk.
  • Ensure daily data integrity, validate positions and reconcile data inconsistences with traders.
  • Monitor and report daily price exposure, mark-to-market and P&L to management.
  • Lead advanced stress testing and scenario analysis to evaluate market risks accurately.
  • Assess exposure limits and evaluate value at risk (VaR) to fortify risk management strategies.
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated risk models tailored to the organization's trading floors.
  • Provide strategic insights into market dynamics and their impact on risk exposure.
  • Guide and mentor junior analysts in conducting market risk assessments and analyses.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement risk mitigation strategies effectively.
  • Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
  • Analyze complex financial data to identify emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies related to market risk management.
  • Collaborate on ad-hoc projects and tasks under the direction of senior analysts, fostering continuous improvement in market risk management practices.

  • Lead conversation with traders, operators and IT to produce accurate daily risk reports.
  • Collaborate with senior management to provide updates on market risk assessments and discuss strategic initiatives.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to communicate risk management strategies and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

External Communication

  • Interface with regulatory authorities or external auditors to provide insights into market risk management practices and ensure compliance.
  • Communicate with market data providers or industry experts to gather relevant information and insights for risk analysis and decision-making.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and Skills (Required, Preferred)

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis tools such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, trading instruments, and risk management principles.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with a focus on problem-solving.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software for financial modeling and analysis.

Preferred

  • CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation.
  • Experience with risk management software such as Bloomberg, MSCI RiskMetrics, or Reuters.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and modeling methodologies.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as Basel III, Dodd-Frank, or MiFID II.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex risk analysis to stakeholders.

Experience and Knowledge (Required, Preferred)

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in market risk management or a related field.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing risk models and methodologies.
  • Experience in stress testing, scenario analysis, and value at risk (VaR) calculations.
  • Strong understanding of financial derivatives, including options, futures, and swaps.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices in risk management.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role, overseeing junior analysts or team members.
  • Familiarity with energy commodities, including crude oil, natural gas, and electricity markets.
  • Experience with market risk measurement techniques such as historical simulation, Monte Carlo simulation, or parametric VaR
  • Understanding of market microstructure and its impact on trading and risk management.
  • Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in risk management, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence.
