The Role
Designs, develops, installs, launches, and continuously improves manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment for transmission and drive unit assembly. Supports prototype builds, design for manufacturability, process technology development, technical problem solving, root cause analysis, warranty corrective actions, vendor oversight, and project management. Provides technical direction to less experienced engineers and works with product engineering to refine designs. The role is hybrid with approximately 25% domestic travel.

DUTIES: Analyze and implement product and machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing process. Propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in the assigned area. Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes. Participate in project management for large projects for Transmission and Drive unit Assembly Equipment. Support prototype builds through development of the processes, tooling, and equipment all while working with product engineering to refine designs for manufacturing. Implement the production manufacturing process for new products. Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch, and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants to produce high quality parts. Providing technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources. Participate in the development and testing of advanced process technology. Provide technical direction to and coordination of less experienced process engineers. Investigate warranty data and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat defects. Apply lessons learned to future product and process designs. Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-Office, 2 Days Remote - Must be able to report to local office. ~25% domestic travel
REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field of study and Five (5) years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, Maintenance Group Leader, Test Engineer, or related role. Five (5) years of experience with the following: Process engineering; Plant floor and design for manufacturability; Transmission and Drive Unit Bill of Equipment, Bill of Process, Bill of Sediment Elimination, and Bill of Operations; Technical problem solving and root cause analysis; Failure mode and effects analysis and Control plan; Engineering technical skills including Leak test, torque (fastening), press operations, error proofing methods, process modeling; Design for safety, risk assessments; and Simulation, throughput analysis, theory of constraints, workload modeling. Four (4) years of experience with the following: Functional understanding of Transmission and Drive Unit operation.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Five years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, Maintenance Group Leader, Test Engineer, or related role
  • Five years of process engineering experience
  • Five years of plant floor and design-for-manufacturability experience
  • Five years of experience with Transmission and Drive Unit bills of equipment, process, sediment elimination, and operations
  • Five years of technical problem solving and root cause analysis experience
  • Five years of experience with failure mode and effects analysis and control plans
  • Five years of engineering experience with leak testing, torque fastening, press operations, error proofing, and process modeling
  • Five years of experience with safety design and risk assessments
  • Five years of experience with simulation, throughput analysis, theory of constraints, and workload modeling
  • Four years of functional understanding of Transmission and Drive Unit operation
  • Ability to work hybrid with three days in office and report to the local office
