Pay Range: $125,000 - $155,000 / year
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Business Partner to various Support Cost functions within the Enabling Support Cost model, including but not limited to Finance, Compliance, Quality / Regulatory, Legal, and Quest for Health (Q4H) functions. This role has direct interaction with Executive Leadership, Finance Leadership, organizational leaders at VP and Director level and others throughout supported organizations. As the finance business partner to the supported functions, the Support Cost Sr. Finance Manager is responsible for the accuracy of financial accounting and reporting, working cross-functionally to ensure maintenance of accurate financial information and performing analysis during and after the month-end close process to understand the various matters and their potential outcomes that influence the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance.
Responsibilities- Interact closely with business partners in preparing accurate and timely operating and capital budgets, analyze actual results vs. budget, identify risks / opportunities to be incorporated into monthly forecasts, monitor headcount statistics and drive best practices around cost analytics to facilitate Quest Diagnostics overall growth and financial objectives.
- Perform month-end close activities including preparing accounting entries (accruals, prepaids, reclassifications, etc.) and monthly reporting packages with value-added insight, coordinating closely with Corporate and Centralized Accounting.
- Engage Senior level staff regularly to drive behaviors around costs and headcount. This person will be asked to understand the business needs of specific functions and the drivers of spend, balanced against the need for spending controls, and then influence appropriate levels of spend in all areas, including expenses and capital. Recommend appropriate cost control initiatives, and drive adherence to these and other announced initiatives including hiring controls, spending controls, and capital spend request process.
- Enhance value-added monthly reporting packages, incorporating run rate analyses, for the functional leaders that will drive behavior. Provide analysis to leadership team to update on spending trends, watch-outs, issues, and drive actions to ensure appropriate behavior. Also, drive enhanced understanding of spend levels with the Director of Support Cost Finance and VP of Financial Planning and Analysis.
- Ensure controls are in place to appropriately account for and safeguard assets and maintain compliance with Company policy and procedures and enforce compliance.
- Coach and develop a direct report within the group, a Senior Financial Analyst, and provide challenging opportunities to gain additional knowledge of our business.
- Drive and support the development and implementation of departmental goals and organization structure.
- Specific to Quest for Health (in addition to the above):
- Engaged business partner with Q4H team in the development / financials of Quest Diagnostics Foundation grant proposals and in the review /approval process for Quest Diagnostics Inc. no-cost testing agreements.
- Ongoing evaluation of Q4H policies, procedures and processes, driving best practices to deliver Q4H objectives effectively and efficiently.
- Coordination with Treasury and Accounts Payable to facilitate timely payment of approved grants, including cash transfers from Quest Diagnostics Inc. to the Quest Diagnostics Foundation.
- Support internal and external tax practitioners in submissions of Quest Diagnostics Foundation annual tax filings.
Education:
• 4-Year College Degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA and/or MBA a plus
Required Work Experience:
• Minimum 6 years relevant Finance experience in a related industry, public/private accounting experience would be a plus
Knowledge / Skills:
• Demonstrates a strong knowledge of operational and financial processes and practical application of financial and strategic analysis
• Strong Excel skills, including lookup formulas, pivots and macros
• Experience with the PeopleSoft Financial Systems and Hyperion Essbase and Hyperion Planning a plus
• Outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written)
