About the team:
Our Product Design team is a vibrant ensemble of customer advocates, product designers, and user researchers working together on a global scale. We are dedicated to enhancing connections between pet parents and pet service providers. Our mission extends to developing sophisticated solutions that tackle diverse challenges with the booking experience, cross-platform communication, personalized scheduling, secure payments, and building trust and ensuring safety in the marketplace. Our team plays a crucial role in elevating the marketplace experience across web, iOS, and Android platforms, significantly impacting the end-to-end customer journey.
Who we're looking for:
Rover is looking for a Sr. Manager, Product Design for our growing design team in Seattle, Washington. This people leader will lead a team of designers dedicated to our international pet services platform. You will coach and develop the team using your strengths and previous experience. You'll support the team in solving complex marketplace interactions and workflows, transforming them into simple, intuitive experiences. You’ll be the strategic customer advocate in a triad of product leadership, overseeing our core product. While in a leadership role, there will be occasional opportunities to have a hands-on impact on the product as a contributing designer. (You understand when it's appropriate to roll up your sleeves).
You’ll also partner with design and product leadership in Barcelona, Spain, to ensure consistency in both people and product management across the teams.
*This is a hybrid position that has the minimum expectation to work out of our Downtown Seattle Office two days per week on Mondays and Thursdays.
The role:
- Mentor, manage, and grow a team of high-value mid-to-senior level Product Designers in Seattle, WA
- Iterate on and establish team processes and best practices to maintain a high bar of quality
- Utilize a human-centered design approach to advocate for customers throughout the end-to-end experience
- Ensure that business objectives are clear, that stakeholder needs are understood, and final solutions are high quality
- Coordinate with product managers, tech leads, and business stakeholders to define and ensure that the teams' work is executed as envisioned
- Partner to influence roadmaps and own experience strategy
- Run workshops to ensure alignment across your working partners and peers
- Own UX opportunities, outcomes, and metrics
- Hands-on approach and comfort with stepping in to get your hands dirty when necessary
- Lead the team in defining a vision for services at Rover
Your Qualifications:
- 5+ years in a management or leadership role on a design team
- 7+ years of product design experience
- Exceptional UX and visual design skills with the ability to teach them
- Excellent communication skills with stakeholders, managing expectations and gracefully receiving feedback
- Ability to cultivate the individual skills of your team
- Excellent communication skills with an aptitude for transparency and team collaboration
- Experience and expertise in high-level product strategy
- Previous experience hiring and growing a team
- Ability to operate at both a high-level conceptual view and down to detailed design deliverables
- Proactive in identifying opportunities and proposing solutions within the team
- Proven customer and business outcomes
- Data-driven design approach, with comfort in using business, product, and UX metrics to inform decisions

Compensation:
- In the greater Seattle area the first year salary range is $182,290-$242,446. Additionally, Rover offers a long-term incentive plan with a company performance-based cash payout and benefits to full-time employees.
- The cash compensation offered for this role will be dependent on the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills and abilities as demonstrated in the interview and hiring process.
