About the team and role:
As the Senior Design Manager for eBay's Live Seller team, you will help craft the future of this critical and foundational eCommerce experience. We will depend on you to build meaningful, collaborative relationships with cross-functional product and engineering and experience design partners, while collaborating with and coaching product design talent. With a focus on craft and execution, you and your team will create innovative and intuitive solutions for our customers — tackling eBay’s more grueling challenges through product discovery and design thinking.

 

What you will accomplish:

  • Manages Product Designers, and works with Design leadership to ensure a cohesive user-experience across the product portfolio

  • Drive and contribute to the creative direction and execution of products along the customer journey — from identifying problems to delivery

  • Apply best-in-class examples as well as research and customer insights to inform decision making, create meaningful solutions and measure outcomes

  • Create and lead future design strategy for post-transaction and related experiences that balance customer and business needs — while simultaneously delivering on committed work

  • Collaborate with leaders across design, product, engineering, research, and content to implement the vision, goals, roadmap, and execution plans

  • Design and develop strategy decks and mocks when needed to align teams and to communicate bigger picture vision

  • Lead regular design critiques, workshops and brainstorming sessions

  • Contribute to departmental planning and budgeting, helping shape and implement team priorities and support company goals

  • Demonstrate thought leadership in the eCommerce and post-transaction spaces, with a focus on building and maintaining customer trust

What you will bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in interaction, product, or UX design

  • 5+ years of professional experience managing product designers

  • Outstanding online portfolio that shows a broad range of interaction design work from native apps, web and desktop-based applications

  • Experience managing a design team while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Align partners on desired outcomes that balance business, product, and engineering needs to ship impactful products on time

  • Hands-on experience leading through ambiguity to build alignment and form a vision that is visualized through storyboarding, scenarios, flows, and prototypes at all levels of fidelity

  • Mentor designers and lead design critiques that raise the level of craft for your team in terms of visual design, user experience design and overall design maturity

  • Strong project and people skills, including communication and organization. Ability to function as an individual contributor and grow your design capabilities and leadership.
