Summary & Scope of Position:
Provide non-commercial procurement leadership to the organization, including development and implementation of sourcing strategies; management of sourcing processes; leveraging third party procurement relationships to manage workflow and achieve cost savings objectives; and contract administration. Oversee accounts payable and travel functions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee accounts payable with a strategic eye towards efficiency and process improvements.
- Manage accounts payable and procurement staff including overseeing deliverables, employee development, training and performance management.
- Design, develop and implement procurement and payables automation IT systems.
- Manage procurement and accounts payable staff including monitoring deliverables, training, employee development and performance management.
- Work with organization to define requirements, including supplier performance management.
- Lead sourcing efforts within cross-functional teams through entire sourcing process, including final contracting phase.
- Closely coordinate with legal in support of contract administration & management efforts including routine contract change orders such as contract expirations, minor scope changes, supplier performance, and dispute resolution.
- Negotiate supplier contracts using templates and facilitating process with Legal, stakeholder and suppliers.
- Develop sourcing strategies and business opportunities that support and comply with Cerus’ objectives related to cost savings, supplier quality and business continuity. Ongoing review of supplier master data and spend.
- Ensure all sourcing activities, sourcing decisions, and contracts comply with Cerus’ Quality Management System. Partner with Cerus’ quality teams to ensure compliance.
- Provide stakeholders with tools and best practices to use in evaluating and managing current and potential suppliers.
- Manage Travel and Entertainment (T&E) for North America including management of travel agency, airline rate and hotel agreements; maintain and ensure employee compliance with Cerus’ T&E policy.
- Prepare procedures and instructions establishing procurement responsibilities and methods of operations.
- Analyze opportunities for procurement mechanisms (e.g. purchasing card program) and if relevant, including RFP, vendor selection, lead implementation process and develop policies and procedures surrounding program.
- Regularly meet with internal customers to discuss expectations, monitor service levels and priorities.
- Train employees on procurement and travel and entertainment.
- Drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications/Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline with a minimum of 7 years’ hands on experience in Procurement.
- Demonstrated people management experience with organizational and leadership skills.
- Secondary education in Sourcing and Procurement: CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) or equivalent preferred.
- Working knowledge of Oracle, iProcurement, DocuSign CLM or like systems.
- Experience operating within an ISO regulated environment.
- Experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams through a defined sourcing process.
- Effective dispute resolution skills.
- In-depth understanding of medical device/biotechnology trends in contracting and supplier management practices.
- Strong sourcing skills including developing and implementing sourcing strategies.
- Analytical skills and understanding of MS Office tools.
- Advanced negotiation skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to interface with all levels in the organization.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects and responsibilities and adapt to changing priorities as well as differing priorities within stakeholder departments.
- Ability to demonstrate both empathy and assertiveness when communicating a need or defending a position.

Compensation: The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $154,952-$183,808 annually. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on various factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the total package to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
