Job Description

The objective of this role, is to achieve distribution to our customers at the planned time with the previously aligned cost, having an operational excellence within the operation. This position is responsible for the MEXPORT market (Mexico and Exports) this is the largest market, representing 65% of the value of Latin America, so it has a major impact on the decisions taken.

Responsible for the logistic flow of inbound, from port to door, warehouse management strategy in the State of Mexico and distribution to customers nationwide. With the management of all the inputs involved and the respective BIDs.

Also responsible for the Export operation, where customers in Central America are supplied from China. 

Set expectations at the beginning of the month, estimating Mattel operation capacities, customer capacities and order arrival estimates, dealing with changes during the month and meeting the monthly commitment.

The seasonal nature of the industry, where it generates increases in storage capacity, transportation, people vs. low season, and subsequently a decrease in resources.

Multi-areas alignment to balance service, cost and sales targets.

1) Personnel management, promoting Mattel values. Leadership and talent development.

2) Strategic development and inbound and outbound execution, on a continuous basis

  • Improve, track and report on metrics that are key performance indicators, allowing us to improve performance so that desired results are achieved as planned and in a timely manner and, if not, to act in a timely manner to redirect actions to meet our objectives.
  • Establish and enforce daily and ongoing control-related standards and procedures. Must be fiscally prudent while mitigating risk in all aspects of Logistics and Customs related functions, internal controls per (SOX) requirements related to Mexico Distribution Center, internal audits.
  • On going strategy on transport security to minimized risks (Distribution Center and Transports).
  • Lead and comply with Mexico Customs requirements.
  • Define and implement logistics cost management strategies.
  • Ensure customer service and time objectives are achieved within existing financial constraints to maximize revenue, market share and profit for the company and customer and Support Finance in reconciling logistics costs.
  • Foster and develop strong partner relationships with logistics partner in inbound/outbound carrier development.
  • Assist with transportation oversight and resolve tactical issues.
  • Provide active support in OEA certification program.
  • DC inventory accuracy ILA, IRA high standards.

3) Ensure customer service and time objectives are achieved within existing financial constraints to maximize sales, market share and profit for the company and customer.

  • Cost to Serve Prepare analyses and modeling (in partnership and coordination with Logistics leadership) which identify inefficiencies and areas of growth with respect to our distribution network (specifically, product flow and fulfillment).
  • Creation and control of the expense budget for the three lines of business, Distribution Labor, Distribution Overhead, Freight Out, Logistics Fee, Inbound Costs.

4) Establish strong working relationship with business units and Operations team to provide high level of customer support.

5) Establish regular benchmarking exercise to ensure understanding of logistics and transportation best practices, continuous improvement and explore innovations.

6) Management of bid processes for warehouse in Mexico, supplies for the operation, national transportation, customs broker and collaboration with Corporate for the management of bid for the warehouse in China.

7) Management of the operation of the distribution center in China, with responsibilities for inventory control, budgeting, capacity setting and ensuring the availability of international transportation capacity.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in positions related to supply chain and logistics with emphasis on logistics, warehouse, transport oversea, local distribution and customs processes.

• The role is based in Mexico City

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, agility in decision making and execution

• Written and communication skills

• Highly proficient analytical skills (Tableau, Microsoft Excel and Access, Basic familiarity with PowerPoint).

• Must be flexible to work weekends and/or overnight shifts as necessary (More require in Peak Season).

• Proficient with MS Office Professional Suite, including intermediate knowledge of Excel

• Experience in the logistics chain, ocean, customs, warehousing, inland transportation in Mexico and Customer Service

• Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma concepts desired
