Job DescriptionThe Opportunity:
The role of the Sr Manager Key Account for the Growth Channel of Core Europe will shape, lead and execute our Distributors Strategy for Core Europe for next 3-5 years.
The role will have full accountability for overseeing and delivering the Distributors Growth sales target each year for the region which is currently $75m but is expected to grow to $100m by 2031.
You will have primary responsibility for our biggest Distributor in EMEA, MAKI based in the Nordics as well as managing 2 direct reports and dotted line responsibility for a further 5 people within Core Europe.
The role will define a Core European Distributor platform that will allow Mattel to expand its retail network across multiple fascia and customers. This will involve working on an RFP Tender project across all Core Markets with the aim to reduce our current network and optimize profitability and scale. It collaborates with the Marketing team and is the main contact for the ORM team in driving Growth Channel needs, customer marketing programmes.
This role will also be part of the Channel's Senior leadership team with the purpose of developing the sales organization and nurturing a challenging spirit culture and to ensure barriers to execution are reduced across the region. In addition this role will take ownership of being the Commercial lead for our Copenhagen office, ensuring Mattel values are implemented and local teams are supported above and beyond their existing line management.
What Your Impact Will Be:
- Define & Implement Mattel Growth Channel strategy, focusing on the Distributor Channel plan for Core Europe.
- Build, agree and implement strong JBP’s with our customers in each Core Market in line with MSAP priorities.
- Review Customers / Accounts strategy (including cross country alignment for international accounts).
- Understand shopper trends, category analysis, retail / customer’s dynamics by collaborating with Business Intelligence.
Financial performance :
- Own and deliver yearly, quarterly and monthly targets shipping and POS.
- Monitor Key Accounts P&L against targets including annual / quarterly budgeting (promotions, trade investment etc.).
- Support the creation of forecasts and interface with other departments to share outputs.
- Monitor and evaluate Key Accounts business performance incl. Effectiveness of trade spend and activities.
Sales Planning & Supply Chain :
- Ownership of the forecast and demand planning targets for the region.
- Key Input into the regional concensus demand planning process.
- Management of regional excess process and accountabiltiy for the inventory targets.
- Close alignment with Customer Service and Finance to ensure maximum customer fulfillment.
Customer First :
- Monthly & Quarterly Business reviews with Strategic customers & key license partners management.
- Nurture and develop Customer Relationships to maximise agreed Joint Business Plans.
- Be the key Escalation point for the local sales team.
- Coach & Support the sales teams in trade terms negotiations and ensure consistency and alignment with Mattel strategic direction.
Collaboration :
- Promote and foster team work across various teams such as Demand Planning & Supply Chain, Finance, Brand Marketing and Omnichannel Retail marketing.
- Drive a strong cross functional culture across the region aligning all departments on the strategic vision for the region.
- Foster teamwork by connecting on a regular basis together in person and digitally and share best practices and learnings across the region.
- Implement new clear and defined process for the selection of each seasons ranges, exclusive products and promotional expenditure.
People and Culture :
- Coach and Nurture the Mattel Core Values and unlock the full potential of the Growth Channel and local Sales teams.
- Drive engagement improvements through the GPS surveys.

What We’re Looking For:
- 7 years sales experience preferably in Toys, FMCG or licensed consumer goods, Apparel or Health & Beauty industry - (this could include retail experience as a buyer)
- 2 years of management or coaching/development experience.
- Selling & negotiation skills in international environment.
- Fluent in written and spoken English, and preferably other Nordics languages (Swedish, Danish)
- Bachelor's Degree (preferably Master's Degree) in Business or related degree
