Sr. Manager, Engineering – eBOS 

Position Location: Mainland China 

Position Summary 

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager – eBOS to lead Nextpower’s eBOS engineering activities in China. This role will be responsible for building and managing a local engineering team while also leading technical execution with design partners, ODMs, component suppliers, and contract manufacturers. 

The successful candidate will combine strong technical depth in eBOS product designs with proven engineering leadership. This individual will be expected to understand detailed design tradeoffs, challenge partner engineering teams, identify and resolve technical risks, and drive projects from concept through qualification, manufacturing transfer, and production readiness. 

The Senior Engineering Manager will be a strong communicator, act as the China-based team liaison to HQ's management and work closely with Nextpower’s global engineering, product management, program management, supply chain, quality, and operations teams to execute the eBOS product roadmap and build strong engineering capabilities in China. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Build and lead the China eBOS engineering team, including hiring, onboarding, technical mentoring, performance management, workload prioritization, and development of engineering capabilities. 

• Own engineering execution of the eBOS product roadmap, including new product design and sustaining engineering for combiner boxes, load-break disconnects, inline fuses, monitoring solutions, trunk/interconnect products, and harness solutions. 

• Lead technical engagement with ODMs, design partners, component suppliers, and contract manufacturers; review and challenge product architectures, design assumptions, component selections, validation plans/results, compliance plans, and manufacturing readiness. 

• Translate Nextpower product and engineering requirements into clear technical expectations for external partners, ensuring alignment with system requirements, reliability, cost, manufacturability, certification, and project milestones. 

• Work closely with HQ's management, global engineering, product, and program teams to identify technical risks, evaluate tradeoffs, manage open engineering issues, and drive timely closure and execution. 

• Lead supplier technical qualification and manufacturing-transfer activities, including capability assessments, documentation transfer, design-for-manufacturing reviews, engineering changes, test readiness, process reviews, and production ramp support. 

• Participate in and lead design reviews, validation reviews, failure analysis, root-cause investigations, and corrective-action activities with internal and external engineering teams. 

• Ensure designs meet applicable safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements, including relevant UL, IEC, NEC, and regional certification requirements. 

Required Qualifications 

• BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience. 

• 10+ years of experience in electrical product development, eBOS, PV systems, energy storage systems, electrical distribution products, or related applications, including experience leading engineering teams or technical organizations. 

• Strong technical understanding of eBOS products and components such as combiner boxes, disconnects, fuses, connectors, cables, busbars, protection devices, monitoring systems, and enclosures. 

• Demonstrated ability to understand detailed engineering designs, identify technical gaps and risks, challenge design assumptions, and drive technical decisions without being the primary hands-on designer. 

• Experience managing product development through design reviews, validation, qualification, certification, engineering change management, supplier qualification, manufacturing transfer, and production ramp. 

• Experience working directly with ODMs, suppliers, contract manufacturers, and cross-functional global engineering teams. 

• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage engineers while also communicating complex technical topics to product, program, supply chain, quality, suppliers, and executive stakeholders. 

• Verbal and written fluency in English, with strong communication skills. 

• Willingness to travel within China and occasionally to the US, Europe, India, and other Nextpower locations. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience with utility-scale solar, PV + Storage, or large-scale electrical power systems. 

• Experience developing or qualifying eBOS products for 1500 Vdc and/or 2000 Vdc applications. 

• Experience with UL and IEC product certification and working directly with certification bodies or NRTLs. 

• Experience resolving field issues, performing root-cause analysis, and driving corrective and preventive actions with suppliers. 

• Experience building or scaling an engineering team in China and managing a combination of internal engineers and external design partners. 

• Experience with supplier technical audits, production readiness reviews, reliability testing, environmental testing, and electrical safety testing.
