Sr. Manager, Engineering - Power Conversion & eBOS 


Position Location: Mainland China 


Position Summary 

We are looking for an Engineering Sr. Manager of Power Conversion & eBOS to lead Nextpower’s technical engagement with design partners, ODMs, component suppliers,  and contract manufacturers in China. This individual will play a key role in driving the technical execution of power conversion and eBOS products that integrate with Nextpower’s solar tracker platforms. 

The successful candidate will bring strong technical depth in electrical systems, power electronics, PV, and/or battery applications, and supplier-driven product development. The Engineering Sr. Manager will be capable of understanding detailed design tradeoffs, reviewing technical documentation, challenging partner engineering teams, identifying risks, and driving suppliers toward timely and high-quality execution. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the technical engagement with ODMs, design partners, component suppliers, and contract manufacturers in China, supporting Nextpower power conversion and eBOS initiatives. 
  • Drive technical execution of partner-led development activities for products such as inverters, DC string combiners, AC/DC disconnects, wire management assemblies, trunk bus assemblies, protection devices, and other power collection platforms. 
  • Review and challenge partner technical deliverables, including product architectures, design assumptions, component selections, test plans/results, compliance plans, and manufacturing readiness. 
  • Translate Nextpower engineering and product requirements into clear technical expectations for external partners, ensuring alignment with system-level requirements, reliability targets, manufacturability goals, and project milestones. 
  • Work closely with Nextpower HQ engineering, product management, and program management teams to assess technical risks, identify design gaps, evaluate tradeoffs, track open issues, and drive timely closure. 
  • Support supplier qualification and manufacturing transfer activities, including technical capability assessments, documentation transfer, test readiness, process reviews, and production ramp support. 
  • Participate in design reviews, validation reviews, failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective action planning with internal and external engineering teams. 
  • Help ensure partner designs comply with applicable standards, including relevant IEC, UL, NEC, IEEE, grid code, and regional certification requirements. 
  • Maintain strong technical communication between China-based partners and Nextpower global teams. 

Required Qualifications 

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Power Systems, or equivalent technical experience. 
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical product development, power electronics, PV systems, battery systems, inverter products, or related power conversion applications. 
  • Strong understanding of power electronics architectures, inverter systems, PV and/or battery system applications, electrical protection, grounding, component selection and technical tradeoffs. 
  • Ability to review technical documentation, identify gaps and risks, challenge technical assumptions, and drive issue closure. 
  • Familiarity with product development processes, design reviews, validation planning, qualification testing, engineering change management, manufacturing transfer, and production ramp. 
  • Familiarity with relevant IEC, UL, NEC, IEEE, and grid-code compliance requirements. 
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to engineering, product, program management, supplier, and executive stakeholders. 
  • Willingness to travel (10% of time) to US, Europe, and India.  
  • Professional fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with PV + Storage, utility-scale solar, data center power infrastructure, or distributed power applications. 
  • Experience with inverter development, inverter qualification, and power conversion platforms. 
  • Experience resolving field issues, performing root cause analysis, and driving corrective and preventive actions with suppliers. 
  • Familiarity with reliability engineering testing, environmental testing, thermal testing, and electrical safety testing.
