About the Team & Role
WEX is an innovative payments and technology company focused on simplifying the business of running a business. As we continue building a unified, world-class experience across our products and services, we are reimagining customer journeys across health, travel, payments, and fleet through customer-driven innovation and modern digital experiences.
We are seeking a Sr. Manager of UX Design for our Corporate Payments vertical to lead and scale a high-performing design organization while helping shape the future of AI-enabled product development at WEX. In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end design lifecycle—from discovery and workflow creation to interaction design, prototyping, and production readiness—while partnering closely with product, engineering, and research teams to deliver seamless, scalable experiences. As a team, we value a variety of perspectives and experiences. We bring our best selves to work every day because we are passionate about solving problems for our users. You will bring your design expertise to both existing and new products, iterating quickly as new ideas arise and project demands evolve.
We are seeking a design leader with expertise in fintech or payments software, who brings hands-on experience integrating modern generative AI tools—such as Cursor, Claude, Bolt, and Figma Make—into their daily workflow. You understand how AI can accelerate design operations, improve collaboration between design and engineering, and transform the design-to-development pipeline while maintaining a strong human-centered design approach.
How you’ll make an impact
Team Leadership & Talent Development
Lead, Mentor, and Scale the UX Team: Provide direct people management for a team of UX designers. Deliver regular craft guidance, career development paths, and performance feedback, fostering a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.
Design Operations & Innovation
Establish Design Operations & AI-Assisted Workflows: Define and optimize enterprise UX best practices, standards, and workflows. Drive team adoption of modern, AI-assisted design and prototyping tools to accelerate discovery, improve clarity, and streamline delivery.
Ensure Experience Quality: Oversee end-to-end UX research and testing programs. Ensure the team successfully synthesizes research data into actionable strategies while maintaining high standards for usability, responsive design, and accessibility across all applications.
Strategic Execution & Collaboration
Drive Cross-Functional Alignment & Capability: Partner with senior leaders across Product and Engineering to align on technical feasibility, design system evolution, and scalable UI patterns. Beyond design execution, you will scale collective expertise by equipping Product partners with the tools and knowledge to actively leverage and apply these frameworks. Oversee collaborative handoff processes to ensure high-fidelity intent transitions smoothly into production environments.
Evolve Multi-Platform Frameworks: Collaborate with Product and UX leadership to iteratively translate complex concepts into intuitive user flows, visualizations, and prototypes. Emphasize continuous device-agnostic design optimization across both desktop and mobile form factors.
Influence Product Direction: Make strategic design and user-experience recommendations for both core capabilities and net-new features. Proactively identify workflow bottlenecks and map elegant, scalable experience solutions.

AI-Driven Design Leadership: 5+ years of direct people management experience leading and scaling high-performing UX teams. Must include documented experience guiding a team through technical workflow transformations, specifically operationalizing AI-assisted design and prototyping practices.
AI Tooling & Technical Mastery: Hands-on experience and strategic mastery of AI-assisted prototyping, generation, and coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Figma AI/Make, Bolt.new, v0) to bridge the gap between high-fidelity intent and frontend framework implementation.
AI-Enabled DesignOps: Proven track record of establishing or evolving DesignOps and component-based design systems by leveraging AI workflows to automate repetitive documentation, accelerate asset generation, and streamline engineering handoffs.
Education: Bachelor’s degree with studies relevant to digital experience creation, human-computer interaction (HCI), or design (a graduate degree is a plus).
