This role will provide strategic as well as pragmatic Legal & Compliance guidance and solutions to Edwards Canada leadership, commercial teams and functions. By establishing strong and proactive relationships with the business and functions at local level this role will develop and implement Legal & Compliance strategies, which will enable sustainable success and promote patient wellbeing.
In close collaboration with other functions (e.g. HR, Regulatory, Internal Audit, Finance, etc) this role handles complex Legal & Compliance issues in-line with legal, industry or internal standards, and communicates to the appropriate levels within the organization (functionally and with business partners).
How you’ll make an impact:
• Provide legal guidance as a legal subject matter expert including serving an advisory role to management to provide complex direction and guidance to teams to execute enterprise-level projects, initiatives and/or programs (e.g., legal research, recommendations on courses of action, contract review, drafting and negotiating agreements, review and interpretation of legislation, document review in litigation, and subject matter specific projects)
• Act as proactive business partner on all Compliance topics related to Canada and spearhead the execution of the Corporate Compliance program (e.g. act as matter expert for local Compliance questions, drive and ensure a culture of Ethics & Compliance, support the global and EMEACLA Compliance program implementation as appropriate, ensure appropriate Compliance governance, facilitate monitoring and auditing activities, represent Edwards in local Industry associations, and others)

What you’ll need:

Qualified lawyer in Canada: for positions based outside the United States,
-
7 years years’ experience of previous related experience in a reputable law firm or in-house legal department Required and
-
Experience in managing a Compliance program in Canada is preferred
-
Relevant industry experience (e.g., medical device, pharmaceuticals, etc.) or in highly regulated environments Required

• Ability to provide leadership to outsourcing partners on a directive level, participates on medium scale RFP
• Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control
