Job Purpose:


The Senior Manager, AI Engineering leads the development and operationalization of AI solutions that advance enterprise business objectives while delivering measurable business value safely, consistently, and at scale. Reporting to the Director of Artificial Intelligence, this role manages a team of AI engineers and technical specialists responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying AI-powered solutions.

The Senior Manager partners closely with business stakeholders, AI Delivery, Architecture, Data, Security, and Technology teams to translate business requirements into scalable AI capabilities while ensuring engineering excellence, responsible AI practices, and operational readiness.


Job Responsibilities:


Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of AI engineers and technical specialists.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Manage performance, career development, coaching, and succession planning activities for team members.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and workforce planning activities.

 

Work Management

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of AI development activities.
  • Manage work progress, risks, issues, dependencies, and delivery commitments.
  • Remove barriers and facilitate effective execution across multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Ensure AI solutions are delivered on time and meet quality, reliability, and security expectations.

 

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical guidance for AI and machine learning solution design and implementation.
  • Promote engineering standards, reusable components, testing practices, documentation, and development frameworks.
  • Support the adoption of AI engineering, MLOps, automation, and DevSecOps best practices.
  • Stay current on emerging AI technologies and evaluate their applicability to enterprise needs.

 

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to understand requirements and define technical approaches.
  • Partner with AI Delivery teams to align development activities with implementation priorities and adoption needs to achieve desired business outcomes.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Foster productive relationships with vendors and technology partners supporting AI development.

 

Operational Excellence

  • Drive continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and engineering practices.
  • Support SDLC and model lifecycle management, monitoring, reporting, supportability, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security, governance, and responsible AI standards.

Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or related professional work experience
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, data science, machine learning, AI engineering, or related technical disciplines
  • 3+ years of experience managing technical teams in delivering complex technology solutions
  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and deploying AI, machine learning, generative AI, or automation solutions
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles, cloud-native architectures, APIs, MLOps practices, and modern development methodologies
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to balance technical excellence with business value delivery
  • Preferred:  Experience in regulated environments

Base Salary Range:

$158,000.00 - $237,000.00
