Job Summary:
The Leader of ABS Financial Accounting Systems is a key leadership role within Acrisure Business Services, responsible for developing and maintaining accounting systems used by the ABS Accounting teams during the month-end close process, including the consolidated ERP system and underlying AMS systems, and managing updates and enhancements to these systems as they impact month-end close processes. This role involves managing a team of 2-3 people, collaborating with Acrisure colleagues, and implementing improvements to ensure business objectives continue to be met.
Responsibilities:
- Accounting Systems Leadership and Oversight:
- Oversee and manage the business processes within ERP system and underlying AMS systems related to opening and closing financial periods, financial allocations, account reconciliations/certifications, integration of AMS trial balances into ERP system and other system functionality related to the FSCP.
- Manage updates and enhancements, including end-to-end testing, for business processes with ERP system through collaboration with Sr. Manager, Consolidation Accounting, Enterprise Applications and Strategic Finance teams to enable an optimized FSCP.
- Responsible for supporting and adapting “accounting requirements” for local ledger systems in conjunction with Enterprise Applications, Strategic Finance, and Internal Audit
- Support and recommend efforts to ensure accurate financial reporting and resulting metrics reported to Accounting Leaders.
- Team Management and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of accounting professionals, ensuring alignment with the department's objectives and the company’s overall goals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth, promoting skill development and career progression within the team.
- Establish performance metrics and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Policy and Compliance:
- Manage work streams by overseeing the data that passes through the accounting systems and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, including the adherence to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) controls.
- Process Improvement:
- Lead the implementation of new financial systems and technologies to optimize efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Manage risk by assessing changes that could impact the systems and develop plans to manage these risks.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations and reduce manual effort and errors.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Enterprise Applications and Strategic Finance teams to ensure accurate system-generated reporting and resulting metrics to meet business objectives and related communications supporting change management.
- Collaborate with operational departments to support accurate financial reporting and other financial data needs.
Qualifications:
- Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in accounting software (Workday, preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Applied or similar agency management software experience, preferred
- Knowledge of ERP systems and automation tools, preferred
- ERP systems testing experience, preferred.
- Knowledge:
- Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards (GAAP/IFRS), and financial regulations.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance, audit processes, and internal controls.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or MBA is a plus).
- At least +8 years of experience in financial accounting, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Strong experience in managing accounting close and financial reporting processes.
- Experience in managing teams and leading complex financial operations.
