The key responsibilities
of this position are:
- Build should-cost models (bottom‑up & parametric) for AC/DC motors, Stators, rotors, laminations, Shafts, housings, brackets etc.
- Analyze cost drivers: raw material prices, production volumes, machining time, winding cycles, magnet cost, stamping, die costs, heat treatment, assembly labor, testing, overheads..
- Support RFQ processes: normalize supplier quotes, compare vs. should‑cost, and prepare negotiation insights.
- Conduct cost breakdown reviews with motor/motor parts suppliers
- Must possess knowledge of various manufacturing processes for Strong understanding of Electrical steel laminations, Copper windings, Shafts & precision machining, Permanent magnets (NdFeB, ferrite) & Motor assembly & testing
- Maintain cost libraries for: Copper, electrical steel, magnets, aluminum, bearings, insulation materials.
- Motor performance vs. cost trade-off data.
- Build standardized costing templates and track cost trends.
- Provide dashboards/reports (PPV, savings, accuracy) to leadership.
- Drive and support VA/VE initiatives with quantified savings.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to enable cost decisions during NPI and sustaining phases.
- Analyzing elements of Product Cost Structure including Material cost, process costs, direct labor, bill of materials, overhead, SG&A, Profit
- Costing Systems & global database maintenance: Time to time updating of process parameters such as Raw material prices, Machine hour rates, Labor rates, Cost Trends, Freight & Taxes
- Uses best industry techniques and practices to establish fact based pricing positions, best value determinations and economic sourcing strategies.
- Supporting global category and commodity managers in deriving negotiation strategies & actual price negotiations
- Lead VAVE, teardown and benchmarking projects using directional and other costing methodologies.
- Areas of expertise include understanding of design & drawings, GD&T, various manufacturing process, tools and their process parameters, cost drivers, Process capabilities & fact based negotiation techniques.
- Plan and facilitate design reviews and workshop; working within cross-functional teams. Exert a shaping influence & drive project execution
- Complete project assignments per established schedules.
- Pro-E/Creo knowledge a plus

Minimum professional and educational background desired (include years of experience).
- 4-Year bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
- 8 to 13 years’ experience in supply chain, should costing Manufacturing Process Plan and Execution methodologies in motor/motor parts category
OR
- 4-Year bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
- 2-Year Master Degree in Electrical/Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
- 6 to 11 years’ experience in supply chain, Manufacturing Process Plan and Execution methodologies in motor/motor parts category.
Key technical skills and knowledge.
•
- Strong understanding of Motor manufacturing processes: lamination stamping, coil winding, magnetizing, rotor molding, varnishing, balancing, assembly, endurance testing.
- Hands-on ability to review engineering drawings, tolerances, and BOMs
- Strong Excel & cost modeling skills; familiarity with BOM analytics and should-cost breakdowns.
- Experience working with motor/motor parts manufacturers.
- Expertise in various should costing methodologies like Zero base costing, Supplier base costing etc and systems
- Global insights of commercial database for major manufacturing processes
