Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Lead, Anaplan Solutions & Planning Platforms to lead the implementation, support, and strategic expansion of enterprise planning solutions across Finance. This role will own delivery outcomes across Anaplan Staff Planning, Forecasting, CCAR support, Income Statement planning, Data Hub architecture, integrations, UX reporting, and future planning modernization capabilities.
The ideal candidate is not only a strong Anaplan expert, but also a capability builder who can establish delivery discipline, mentor a team, strengthen governance, and translate business priorities into scalable, controlled, and user-friendly planning solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Required Technical Skills & Experience
Deep expertise in Anaplan solution architecture, model building, Data Hub design, ALM, UX development, and deployment management, with a proven ability to design scalable, high-performing enterprise planning solutions.
Strong functional knowledge of FP&A, workforce planning, budgeting, forecasting, scenario modeling, and financial data management, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable planning capabilities.
Experience leading end-to-end implementation and enhancement of enterprise planning platforms, including requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, deployment, governance, and production support.
Proven ability to design and manage enterprise data integrations, leveraging APIs, SQL, and data analysis techniques to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and timely availability across planning ecosystems.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with expertise in reporting, analytics, controls, access management, documentation, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling, complemented by experience working within Agile delivery frameworks and modern Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, establish best practices, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance planning efficiency, data quality, and business outcomes.
2. Leadership & Team Development
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing Anaplan delivery team comprising model builders, analysts, engineers, and solution SMEs.
Establish clear ways of working across backlog management, sprint execution, release planning, quality reviews, documentation, and production support.
Coach team members on Anaplan best practices, model design, data management, performance optimization, and business engagement.
Create a sustainable capability model with role clarity, cross-training, succession planning, and measurable skill maturity.
3. Strategy, Roadmap & Stakeholder Management
Partner with Finance, FP&A, HR, Risk, Corporate Functions, and Technology stakeholders to define priorities, business outcomes, and delivery roadmap.
Translate business needs into scalable Anaplan solutions that improve forecasting, workforce planning, scenario analysis, expense planning, and management reporting.
Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders by providing clear options, risks, dependencies, trade-offs, and recommendations.
Lead prioritization forums and drive alignment across business value, regulatory needs, capacity, and technical feasibility.
3. Solution Architecture & Delivery Ownership
Own end-to-end design and delivery of enterprise Anaplan capabilities across Staff Planning, Forecasting, CCAR, Income Statement planning, cost center planning, and scenario modeling.
Design scalable multi-model architectures using Data Hub, ALM, controlled data flows, modular design principles, and reusable planning components.
Ensure models are performant, auditable, maintainable, secure, and aligned to Anaplan and enterprise technology standards.
Oversee requirements, design, build, testing, UAT, deployment, documentation, and post-production stabilization.
4. Platform Operations, Controls & Data Quality
Strengthen production support, incident management, release governance, access controls, and operational risk management.
Establish data validation, reconciliation, completeness checks, and error-handling processes across inbound and outbound planning data.
Drive improvements in platform stability, data accuracy, business adoption, user experience, and planning cycle efficiency.
Maintain strong documentation for model architecture, data lineage, integrations, controls, release records, and support procedures.
5. Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to simplify planning processes, automate manual activities, enhance reporting visibility, and improve self-service capability.
Evaluate and apply modern planning practices including predictive planning, advanced analytics, AI-enabled insights, and integration automation where appropriate.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, operational precision, accountability, and business-value driven delivery.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems
10+ years of experience in enterprise planning, financial systems, EPM platforms, FP&A technology, or related finance technology domains.
8+ years of hands-on Anaplan implementation, model building, and solution architecture experience.
Proven experience leading enterprise-scale planning implementations from concept through production deployment.
Strong working knowledge of FP&A, forecasting, budgeting, workforce planning, management reporting, cost center planning, and financial data structures.
Anaplan Certified Solution Architect or Master Anaplanner credentials preferred.
Experience with Hyperion, Oracle EPM, OneStream, SAP BPC, Workday, Power BI, SQL, ETL tools, APIs, or enterprise data platforms is good to have
Experience in banking, financial services, regulatory planning, risk, CCAR, SOX-controlled environments, or large global enterprises.
Strong Agile delivery experience and familiarity with SDLC, DevOps, change management, and release governance.
Experience designing Data Hub architecture, integrations, validation routines, and controlled data flows.
Demonstrated experience building, mentoring, and leading technical teams.
Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
