The (Sr./Lead) Analyst/Engineer I (II) will support the Day-Ahead Market Operations Department mission by operating and supporting the Day Ahead and Real Time Energy Market as a Day-ahead Market Operator. This individual will run a suite of software daily, clearing a forward market which matches generation, load and financial instruments in a security constrained transmission system.
Essential Functions:
Understand the operational and technical aspects of PJM’s Markets including Day-Ahead Market, Fixed Transmission Right Auction, Real-Time Locational Marginal Price calculation, and Ancillary Services Market.
Perform power system analysis and document results.
Test software application enhancements and document results.
Provide customer support and training.
Provide a high-level of analytical analysis and acting as a problem solver, proactively addressing business needs and requirements with innovative, creative, and cost-effective solutions.
Develop new technical software tools and enhance existing applications to support Market Operations.
Work with other members of the Market Services Division, System Operations Division, and Planning Division in problem-solving and streamlining processes.
Query relational SQL databases and handle effective-dated tables and records.
Required to work some weekends and holidays running the Day-Ahead software and clearing the Day-Ahead Market as part of a team rotation.
Characteristics & Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business or equivalent work experience
Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis
Experience using verbal and written communications skills
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint)
Preferred:
Master's degree in Engineering
Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
Experience supporting any of PJM Committees
