The Role

Kodiak Robotics, Inc. was founded in 2018 and has become the trusted world leader in autonomous ground transportation committed to a safer and more efficient future for all. Kodiak’s unique modular hardware approach integrates sensors into a streamlined sensor-pod structure that optimizes for perception, scalability, and maintainability. Kodiak also leverages its commercial self-driving software to develop, test and deploy autonomous capabilities for the U.S. Department of Defense.


We are seeking an Sr. IT Systems Engineer who excels in both hands-on infrastructure support and infrastructure automation. You'll play a key role in evolving and scaling our infrastructure to meet the demands of our expanding business through DevOps practices and cloud automation tools like Ansible and Terraform. 

What you'll do:

  • Implement Infrastructure Automation:
  • Design and implement infrastructure as code using Terraform, encompassing both cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Automate configuration management and deployments using Ansible across diverse infrastructure, including cloud and on premises infrastructure.
  • Monitor and maintain the health and security of our cloud, datacenter, and network infrastructure, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.
  • Implement and manage monitoring and alerting systems for critical infrastructure components.
  • Provide IT Infrastructure Administration:
  • Develop and support Ansible automated provisioning systems for servers, laptops, and other devices, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
  • Manage and maintain physical datacenter infrastructure
  • Assist with new employee onboarding, setting up accounts and access.
  • Respond to IT infrastructure support requests in a timely and helpful manner.

What you'll bring:

  • DevOps and Automation Skills:
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Ansible and Terraform in a production environment, demonstrating proficiency in automating complex infrastructure tasks.
  • Extensive experience with Linux and Git, including scripting, version control, and collaborative workflows.
  • Proven experience participating in code reviews and collaborating using GitHub, fostering a culture of quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and experience with hybrid cloud environments.
  • Strong networking experience, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols.
  • Datacenter Management Experience: 3+ years of experience managing physical datacenter infrastructure, including: racking and stacking servers, cable management, UPS and power distribution, physical security measures
  • Problem-Solving and Communication: A proactive self-starter with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, strong customer service skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, start-up environment.
