Job Description:
Rubicon is seeking a Sr. I&E Engineer supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in Geismar.
In summary, as the Sr. I&E Engineer, you will:
Has the responsibility for managing an effective maintenance program on all electrical and instrumentation equipment on site.
• Serve as subject matter expert to electricians and/or instrument technicians to result in quality repairs.
a) Assure adherence to Rubicon Maintenance Policies & Procedures, and industry “best practices” (e.g., NFPA, ISA, IEC, NETA) for all equipment repairs.
b) Retain knowledge of site control systems (e.g., DCS, PLC, Communications, Fire Protection, Vibration Monitoring).
c) Maintain electrical system coordination study and initiate corrective action (e.g., ETAP).
d) Ensure effective training for electricians and instrument technicians.
• Responsible for leading E&I maintenance activities and monitoring costs.
• Responsible for developing electrical safe work practices for site electrical and instrument workers.
• Monitors Preventive Maintenance activities on all electrical and instrumentation equipment.
a) Manage 5-year preventative maintenance program for electrical distribution systems.
b) Recommend instrumentation equipment to resolve reliability issues.
c) Identify and propose projects for the site capital program to improve equipment reliability and/or reduce maintenance expenses.
• Assures proper spare parts inventory for all electrical and instrumentation equipment.
• Ensure site process safety by consistent repairs of electrical and instrumentation equipment.
• Perform troubleshooting of electrical and instrumentation equipment to return systems to normal operating functions.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in the maintenance of electrical and instrumentation procedures.
• Provide input as need for electrical and instrumentation modifications made to the site.
• Monitor updates to equipment files in all software suites and take appropriate action as needed.
• Works with the safety department on root cause of incidents relating to the electrical and instrumentation equipment.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Rubicon in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industry
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering
Know How:
- Leadership ability with people skills and an ability to communicate clearly.
- High mechanical aptitude accompanied by a comprehensive knowledge of electrical and instrumentation equipment, materials of construction, chemicals, and processes common to Rubicon.
- Working knowledge of Rubicon maintenance and safety policies/procedures and Rubicon General Specifications.
- Working knowledge of Rubicon’s software business system and equipment databases.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret P&ID, electrical one-lines, and instrument drawings.
- Thorough knowledge of installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair procedures for all types of electrical and instrumentation equipment.
- Maintain familiarity with various equipment manufacturers, their technical support staff, and vendors so that they may be quickly contacted at any time that their assistance is required.
