Job Summary
Senior Hardware Engineer is responsible for new product design, board level architecture, implementation, and testing. The design work includes research, component specification, schematic development, PCB layout guidance, board bring-up, interfacing and collaboration with other engineers (Firmware, FPGA, and Mechanical). It also includes work with product management during product design cycle. Senior HW Design Engineer understands and plans for HW evolutionary paths as well as new technology insertion.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and document PCBs using schematic and layout capture systems (Altium, Orcad…).
- Provide Spice or other design simulation when it is needed.
- Drive best practices in various areas of HW development.
- Investigate and debug and bring alive designed boards by using proper measurement equipment like (oscilloscopes, analyzers, and meters).
- Oversight EMC/EMI and Electrical safety testing.
- Provide effort, time and cost estimation on various levels of granularity and confidence. Drive best practices in estimation and status reporting activities.
- Assist in risk and opportunities identification, assessment and mitigation/enhancement activities.
- Provide support in all phases of Product Life Cycle (PLC) and ensure delivering high-quality products on time and on schedule.
- Review and cooperate on Customer proposals, internal Product Requirements Documents, Engineering Requirements Documents and work with cross-functional teams to achieve product goals.
- Drive efficient and effective design reviews and recommend improvements.
- Review vendor capability in support of product development and improvement.
Required Experience, Education, Skills and Competencies
- BS in Electrical Engineering, MS in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years hardware design experience.
- Interface with FPGA, Software and Firmware engineers.
- Demonstrated successful implementation of low EMI board layout and component designs.
- Fluent verbal English communication and proper written technical English are must.
Travel Requirements
- Occasional travel. Less than 10% of work time a year.
Physical Requirements
- Mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.
- Ability to use vison to read computer screen and read printed materials.
