The Genetic Solution Representative (GSR) position is part of the commercial organization supporting the Genetic Analysis portfolio. This team provides high-value genomic information to support critical decisions in research and applied markets utilizing Quantitative PCR | Sanger Sequencing | Digital PCR | Sample Preparation |Human Identification | Microarray | AgriGenomics.
A Day in the Life
- Remotely based in North Carolina, this field sales position is responsible for achieving or exceeding the assigned territory sales plan. This will be accomplished by energetically pursuing new sales opportunities and by effectively establishing strong business relationships with our current and future customer base.
- Expert in technical acuity in the application focus areas spanning Sample Prep with KingFisher, Quantitative PCR (qPCR), Digital PCR (dPCR), Sanger Sequencing and Fragment Analysis within Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) technologies.
- Role model leader with commercial intuition required to prospect and build successful account and territory plans to translate territory strategy into business results.
- Primarily focused on successful customer centric, full workflow consumable deals and capital equipment sales. This includes strong CRM and funnel management, accurate forecasting ability, and strong prospecting, qualifying, and closing skills.
- Travel 50-75%
Keys to Success
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field required
Experience
- 5+ years sales experience in Life Science selling capital equipment and consumables
- Expert within sample prep, qPCR, dPCR, Sanger sequencing, and/or microarray
- Selling experience in academic, industrial and federal government accounts

- Scientific consulting competence: demonstrates technical credibility to collaborate with customers on application and technology solutions.
- Capital sales competence: demonstrates funnel management skills with strong hunting/prospecting and closing skills.
- Core commercial competence: prioritizing customer requirements and being dedicated to meeting or exceeding customer expectations while building strategic customer partnerships.
- Business acuity: Self-directed to own results and takes accountability while exercising good judgment and being dedicated to meticulous territory planning, market knowledge, accurate and timely forecasting.
- Expert in developing business plans to meet or exceed business goals agreed upon by commercial management for the territory
- Manages multiple priorities and business critical objectives efficiently and effectively.
- Master in understanding scientific project and business needs of the customer to position a genetic analysis solution within sample prep, qPCR, dPCR, sequencing and/or microarray to win the business.
- Champions CRM to manage customer data and leads, profile accounts, communicate opportunities, and manage the pipeline.
- Comprehensive understanding of tools, resources, analytics, critical business processes such as pricing, freight, go-to-market strategies and overall value proposition.
- Continuously improves internal processes to create value for the customer and organization
- Does not make excuses for poor performance, is open about what is not working and what needs to be done to fix it

- Expert in communicating a clear plan while motivating and mentoring peers by empowering and encouraging team and leads by example.
