About the Role
Are you looking to use your expert leadership and accounting skills in an industry that supports and protects explorers and heroes? We could use your expertise on our team! As a Sr Accounting Manager, you will apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. You will maintain and oversee the control of accounts and records in such areas as disbursements, expenses, tax payments, and income. You will analyze financial information, transactions, reports, and reviews to verify the accuracy, review balance sheet and profit and loss statements, consolidated financial statements, and other accounting schedules and reports, design, modify, install, and/or maintain accounting systems to ensure adequate recognition of financial transactions. You will be responsible for the adherence to and communication of accounting and auditing policies and procedures. You will also manage a group of accountants including review of completed work, providing feedback, and managing workloads, hires, trains, and retains competent accounting staff.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the General Ledger team to complete the month-end close accurately and on time.
  • Review journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Oversee cash management activities, and other General Ledger functions including fixed assets, prepayments, and accruals.
  • Review trend analysis, and assist in investigating and resolving accounting questions and issues as they arise.
  • Proactively review and continuously improve on existing processes to streamline tasks and bring efficiencies to General Ledger activities.
  • Communicate with other functional areas regarding month-end close timing.
  • Contribute to the external audit process by assisting with external audit questions, and collating and preparing supporting documentation for interim reviews and year end audits.
  • Assist in the review of customer contracts to determine the appropriate revenue recognition approach.
  • Work with systems support functions to test and integrate ERP system enhancements.
  • Provide guidance, development and mentorship to General Ledger team members and assist with hiring and training new General Ledger team members.
  • Assist with special projects within the accounting function, researching issues and proposing potential solutions and alternatives, discussing with key stakeholders, and ultimately contributing to improved accounting processes.
  • Own control activities within GL, maintaining a strong set of SOX-compliant internal controls.
  • Support the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Provide support in researching and preparing technical accounting memos.
  • Provide ad-hoc support for cross-functional information requests

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field of study (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP.
  • Proven leadership abilities inclusive of successful change management, mentoring, career development, training, succession planning, holding people accountable, and conducting yearly reviews.
  • Extensive Microsoft Excel data analysis experience.
  • Proficiency with automated accounting systems.
  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal & presentation.
  • Ability to draft technical accounting memos
  • Ability to assess the accounting for complex transactions through technical research.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Typically 4 - 8 years of relevant leadership or accounting management experience.
  • SAP accounting system experience.
  • Working knowledge of FAR, DFAR, and CAS.
  • Public accounting experience.

Estimated Starting Salary Range:
$138,634.92 - $190,623.01
