The Team:

Our team manages the Global Forecasting and Analysis and Accounting for the Out-Licensing Organization. Our activities include developing the Annual and Quarterly Financial forecasts, performing monthly analysis on the Company’s financial results, and supporting all the out-licensing business teams. We work with cross functional partners across the organization and communicate performance to them as well as to Senior Leadership.

Job Description

The Opportunity: 

Mattel is currently looking for Sr. Financial Analyst to join our Entertainment Finance team in El Segundo, CA. You will play a critical role in supporting the both the Consumer Products (“CP”) and Publishing teams as well as own consolidation activities for the out-licensing team. This is an opportunity to learn about the licensing business and its role and purpose within Mattel. This role will support the Global licensing teams and include coordination with cross functional partners across the organization. 

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Develop detailed financial models to evaluate licensing deals, royalties, and strategic partnerships across Consumer Products and Book Publishing partnerships
  • Support the development and analysis of quarterly, annual and long-term forecasts for the out-licensing business for North America
  • Consolidate, analyze, and summarize the monthly financial results for CP and Publishing against the plan, forecasts, and prior results and present findings to team leadership
  • Prepare executive-level presentations summarizing financial performance, business drivers, and strategic insight for the total out-licensing organization
  • Partner with Legal, sales and accounting to ensure contract compliance and revenue recognition
  • Manage forecast system loads for CP and Publishing lines of business for North America
  • Evaluate business problems and build quantitative models to support business decisions
  • Represent the Finance point-of-view at cross-functional meetings with cross functional teams
  • Support weekly performance forecasting for CP and Publishing for North America
  • Maintains on-going relationship with North America business partners and ensure understanding of their state of the business, the major changes and the key factors that impact the business
  • Collaborate with Accounting to validate proper revenue recognition and accruals, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policy and Sarbanes Oxley requirements

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • BS/BA required (Finance, Accounting, Economics preferred)
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • 5+ years experience in financial/P&L analysis
  • Advanced analytical and quantitative modeling skills. Proven track record of converting information into data-driven insights.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in all other Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to quickly gain proficiency in new/multiple financial systems
  • Oracle GL/Project Accounting and Hyperion Financial Management experience preferred
  • Proactive, high energy and detail/results-oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrate ownership of the business 

The annual base salary range for this position is between $114,000 and $135,000.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience. Mattel offers competitive total pay programs, comprehensive benefits, and resources to help empower a culture where every employee can reach their full potential.
