About the Opportunity

This position is a key member of the Driscoll’s DOTA Nursery Finance team. The Sr. Financial Analyst performs finance duties of a complex nature requiring professional experience and strong financial acumen. Responsible for the management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and support activities for specific farming investments that Driscoll’s makes, which includes US Nursery Spend, Nursery Amortization, Deferred Plant Costs and Fees, US Crop Investments and other US Farming Investments (i.e. Post Nursery Long Cane Storage and Non-Refundable Planting Fees).
The Sr. Financial Analyst will develop creative solutions to complex problems, recommend best practices, manage multiple priorities, connect the interdependencies between Operations, Finance, Accounting and cross functional work groups. May lead projects or project teams.
***This position requires the candidate to work four days on-site at our office in Watsonville, California. Please note that we do not offer relocation assistance or remote work options for this role. Applicants should either reside within a commutable distance or be willing to relocate independently***

 Responsibilities

Annual Operating Plan (AOP)

  • Responsible for the development of US Nursery Cost per Unit, Nursery Amortization, and Deferred Plant Cost budgets
  • Leads the development of Crop Investment and Farming investment budgets
  • Incorporates subsidiary Nursery budget into company annual operating plan
  • Leads development of US Nursery manager’s operating budgets
  • Assists with consolidation of US and MX Nursery budgets for Business Unit presentation

Management Reporting

  • Assists with preparation of Monthly Financial Reporting Packages to be utilized by Operations, Regional leadership, Business Unit leadership and Financial leadership

Forecasting

  • Prepares forecasts including but not limited to:
    • Cost per unit for all US Nursery crops (monthly)
    • Nursery Amortization (monthly)
    • Deferred Plant Cost (quarterly)
    • Crop Investments (quarterly)
    • Farming Investments (quarterly)
  • Updates all forecasted financial components of monthly US Nursery scorecard
  • Annually, prepare 5-year cost per unit projection for all US Nursery crops

Strategic Support

  • Is a critical thought partner and provider of financial analysis in establishing future direction of the nursery operations and support of strategic initiatives
  • Assists with developing strategic presentations for Business Unit leadership team, Executive team and Board of Directors

Process & Project management

  • Works independently and in cross-functional teams as required to improve the processes used to complete the responsibilities of the position, provide critical financial data, assess risk, make decisions and meet financial and reporting objectives
  • Supports and leads in the execution of projects as needed and prioritized by the Nursery Finance and Accounting department

    Candidate Profile

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Finance

  • 5+ years in Finance

  • Areas of experience: Planning and Analysis. management reporting, forecasting

  • Microsoft Office – Advanced

  • ERP Systems – Intermediate  

  • Spanish – Preferred

A skilled and detail-oriented financial analyst with a strong background in financial modeling, data analysis, and forecasting. Possesses excellent quantitative and analytical skills. Proven ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights to support strategic decision-making. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Compensation & Benefits:

The following information is provided in good faith as a general description of the salary range and benefits for the position posted.  The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work location, internal pay equity, and other objective job-related factors.

Salary Range estimated for the Sr. Financial Analyst, US Nursery: $84,800 to $108,700 USD.
