McCain Foods Limited (Corporate) has an immediate 12-month contract position as a Senior Financial Analyst reporting to the Finance Director of Global Commercial as part of the Corporate FP&A team. This role is part of the dedicated support as finance business partners to the Growth, Strategy, Government Relations, and External Affairs functions.
This position serves as a liaise between Finance and the Global Growth & Strategy team, providing high-quality accurate financial analysis to support decision-making of our top-line strategies. The analyst will need to foster relationships within and across finance and the regional business units to drive key insights into business performance. With a solid understanding of the finance function, the Senior Financial Analyst provides - from financial data - interpretation, insight, and advice to the team.
A key contributor in helping the growth and strategy leadership team evaluate the performance of innovation launches in the market as well as pipeline value and sufficiency. Helping to identify data gaps within our financial and sales reporting systems and working in partnership with Data Analytics and Governance teams to provide solutions to more accurately track and measure our strategic initiatives and key segments of our business.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
Commercial Financial Planning & Analysis 60%
- Main client groups supported for analysis and reporting
- R&D
- Growth and Strategy
- Government Relations/External Affairs
- Prepares and reviews key components of the Growth & Strategy monthly Business Performance update to SLT (CEO, CSO, CFO) to highlight key trends and performance of strategic initiatives
- Analyzes Global topline profitable growth, highlighting trends in channel and product categories within markets
- Develops and tracks key initiatives, KPI's and target setting for the business
- Analyze key global customers & product profitability
- Proactively provides insight and perspective of financial and operational data, for communication to business decision makers, making recommendations and discovering underlying trends/root cause
- Ensures all business decisions are supported by high-quality financial analysis
- Participate in continuous improvement and other strategic projects (both finance and non-finance)
Strategic Analysis - 40%
- Assists in the preparation of business cases for projects, ensuring an adequate ROI
- Supports local/global projects - e.g. Global Customer RFP's
- Aligns the strategic roadmap for channel and product profitability
Key Requirements:
- Professional Finance designation preferred (i.e. CPA)
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA preferred
- 2+ years' experience with a CPG or a big retailer is a plus
- Fluency in a language other than English: (Spanish, French, Mandarin) is a plus (but not a necessity).
- Progressive responsibility in Financial Planning and Analysis preferably in the commercial and manufacturing sector
- Good understanding of customer and product profitability metrics and drivers
- Ability to develop strong relationships
- Strong analytical, data mining, and financial modeling skills and use of data analytics technologies
- Experience preparing financial forecasts, and budgets and analyzing results to forecast/budget noting key trends, drivers, risks, and opportunities
- Develop and monitor performance metrics, and interpret and accurately communicate those showing trends and determining the root cause
- Strong modeling and Excel skills with the ability to understand complex Excel formulas and simplify templates
- A good understanding of data architecture within SAP and how ERP data is pulled into reporting systems such as OneStream and MicroStrategy
- Strong ability to understand how the business delivers value to the shareholder and what drives profitability
- Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts and issues in a simple, compelling, and concise manner for presentation and discussions with senior management and other nonfinancial business leaders.
