The Senior Finance Specialist ensures timely record and payment through the accounts process. The process is heavily exception based, requiring an aptitude to optimize the tools and systems provided. Relies on experience, judgment and good organizational skills to plan and accomplish position objectives, including problem resolution and procedure compliance.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain complete and accurate general ledger records in accordance with applicable accounting standards on the accounting system.
- Record daily financial transactions, including journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustments.
- Ensure timely month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts and financial statements.
- Perform periodic bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
Monitor cash flow, payments, and collections.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Prepare and file sales tax, withholding tax, income tax, and other statutory returns.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial tax laws.
Coordinate with external tax advisors and respond to regulatory notices.
- Provide accurate financial data and analysis to management.
- Provides answers to all internal and external payment inquiries in a manner that is professional and timely.
- Works on problem resolution to ensure proper posting to the company's financial statements.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
- Provides documentation and information to auditors regarding account payable systems, processes and payments.
- Identify control gaps and recommend process improvements.
May oversee the work of Finance Associates on the team.
Performs other special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance
- Professional qualification (ACCA / CA / CMA / CPA – Part Qualified).
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in accounting and taxation.
- Prior experience in an audit firm is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and Pakistan tax regulations.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP) and advanced MS Excel skills preferred.
