Position Summary:
The Senior Epic Data Analyst will be the in-house expert on the Epic Cogito solutions and have a comprehensive understanding of the Clarity and Caboodle data models and administration practices. Designs and implements robust analytics solutions for advanced projects and self-service needs. Will be the subject matter expert on Reporting Workbench, Radar, and Slicer Dicer and possesses the ability to extract data from the front-end to provide actionable information to our customers. Evaluate and improve existing BI systems to allow for better and easier data exploration including but not limited identifying, structuring, analyzing, and visualizing data, particularly focused on optimization of our self-service solutions to support organizational performance. Work with operational leaders and application teams to implement new or modify existing predictive models. Develop dashboards through applications such as Tableau or Epic using multiple data sources to visualize data to create a seamless experience for end users. Manages and maintains the integrity of our Epic source data, both independently and in conjunction with internal and external partners.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in science, engineering, statistics, mathematics or other concentration requiring strong analytical skills; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Three (3) years of technical, analytical, and/or statistical role experience or 5 years of equivalent education and experience
- Two (2) years of demonstrated advanced clinical analytics experience and build capability within Epic HER preferably with the Foundation System reports and dashboards
- Two (2) years of experience with programming languages for data analysis such as SQL server
- Six (6) months Tableau experience or similar data visualization tools
- Epic Cogito certification or Epic application certification
- Epic Cogito Tools Administration certification
- Epic Caboodle Development certifications within 12 months of hire
- Epic Cognitive Computing Model Badge within 12 months of hire
- Proficient SQL skills with working knowledge of relational databases and familiarity with data architecture concepts
Preferred
- Master’s Degree in science, engineering, statistics, mathematics or other technical concentration
- Five (5) years of experience in a healthcare related technical, analytical, and/or statistical role
- Experience with R or Python
- Epic Cogito Certification in Access, Clinical or Revenue
Essential Job Functions:

- Models complex clinical business problems, discovers operational insights and identifies opportunities through the use of existing solutions, data mining and visualization techniques supporting the organization's strategic goals and deployment.
- Resolves complex data challenges using a range of SQL queries and programming when necessary. Assists with the translation of end-user workflow-based report requests to specific data points required for report development.
- Works with the data analysts to identify and develop appropriate solutions for various reporting needs. When necessary, partners with Data Analytics Supervisor and other teammates to support design, engineering, and data validation of clinical subject area marts (SAMs) within our EDW to support a wide range of analytical needs.
- Conducts rigorous data mining and statistically sound analytical analyses to develop and report high quality actionable and quantitative information developing standard tools, interactive dashboards, and custom analyses.
- Develops analytical practices and skill sets to assemble actionable information and makes recommendations on complex clinical questions, and develops and implements data driven strategies to support key initiatives.
- Creates data for report testing and ensures that all application dashboards and reports are tested.
- Resolves data integrity issues with Cogito solutions when necessary. Creates impactful and dynamic data visualizations and infographics to communicate results of highly complex analysis to varying audiences both verbally and in presentation.
- Defines data and collaboratively establishes core metrics and KPIs in accordance with the objectives of the Data Analytics organization.
- Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results and demonstrates effectiveness of selected approach.
- Provides leadership and expertise to best leverage Cogito solutions to execute analysis where partnered with less skilled peers.
- Designs and facilitates training sessions to develop reporting and analytical skills among cross-functional peers.
- Assists in fulfilling or owning various ad hoc strategic and business reporting requests and projects.
