A Day in the LifeCardiac Ablation Solutions (CAS) is an Operating Units within the Cardiac portfolio at Medtronic. At CAS, we are developing next generation medical technologies that treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms. Our technologies save lives and improve the quality of living for millions of patients across the world by advancing innovation for the diagnosis and ablation of cardiac arrhythmias and enabling clinicians to perform procedures with superior outcomes. Our growing and innovative portfolio provides solutions that advance and enhance care.We are looking for an experienced Program Development Manager (PDM) to join the CAS R&D team. The PDM will be part of a cross-functional Core Team leading the development of next generation products via our organic or in-organic portfolio strategy. The PDM provides technical and project leadership for the initial release and the ongoing lifecycle management of CAS products and serves as the primary integrator for the engineering product development team. Potential programs may include disposable (e. g. catheters) and durable capital equipment.
The PDM role involves leading the development team and working cross-functionally with other Core Team members to ensure successful product development and commercialization. The role is highly cross-functional and may involve interacting with external business partners and/or contract design or manufacturing entities.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Business Leadership:
- Member of the Core Team that defines and executes a project to meet business goals.
- Lead and coordinate the Product Development extended team.
- Gathers requirements, works on requirements planning, requirements elicitation and requirements management to ensure they meet demands of project’s key stakeholders.
- Champion DRM practices and drive the collection of high-quality VOX input to define solutions that optimize business outcomes.
- Work cross-functionally as a Core Team member in a project-centric environment.
Program Leadership:
- Lead cross‑functional, matrixed development teams to deliver complex product development programs and lifecycle initiatives.
- Drive predictable program execution through disciplined planning and management of scope, cost, schedule, resources, risk, and quality.
- Provide program and development input to key decisions, including technical and business trade‑offs, risk mitigation strategies, and issue resolution.
- Partner closely with functional leaders to support resource planning and ensure teams are appropriately staffed to meet program commitments.
- Lead and influence cross‑functional teams across new product development and ongoing product, process, and therapy lifecycle management.
- Ensure programs deliver against approved commitments, performance metrics, and financial objectives.
- Actively monitor program progress, budgets, and schedules; prepare and communicate clear, timely status updates to stakeholders and leadership.
- Manage programs end‑to‑end from initiation through delivery, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, governance requirements, and quality standards.
- Proactively identify program risks and issues and drive effective mitigation and resolution to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and engagement, and that program outcomes effectively address business and customer needs.
Talent Development Leadership:
- Mentor and coach Development team members to build a sustainable pipeline of talent.
- Create and cultivate an empowered culture where team members are encouraged to think critically and make decisions.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in project management with 5+ years of managerial experience.
Nice to Have:
- Medical Device industry experience- knowledge of new product development, DRM, clinical trial management, quality systems, global regulatory experience.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proven analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong “influence management” skill set demonstrated in a corporate environment.
- Advanced degree in business, engineering, or a related field
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
- Knowledge of electrophysiology/experience with EP products
- Experience in the development of cardiac catheters or delivery systems and/or experience in the development of durable cardiac hardware.
- Demonstrated executive leadership presence.
- Experience working with external business partners as well as external contract design or manufacturing resources.
- Knowledge of patient safety, quality, clinical research, strategic planning.
- Knowledgeable of U.S. Food and Drug Law and WW regulatory, device safety and/or regulatory/clinical research.

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
