Sr Engineering Manager

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead the development of next-generation Connected Software, Cloud Applications, and Industrial Control Systems solutions. This leader will drive the architecture, development, and delivery of scalable cloud-native applications, edge-to-cloud platforms, industrial software, and connected control system technologies that enable digital transformation for industrial customers.

The successful candidate will lead multiple software teams responsible for cloud applications, industrial control software, device connectivity, data platforms, cybersecurity, and digital services while partnering closely with product management, systems engineering, hardware, and customer-facing teams.

You will report directly to our Director of Engineering and you’ll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a hybrid work schedule.

Hybrid Work Schedule Note: For the first 90 days, New Hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite M-F.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Engineering Leadership

• Lead and grow a Process Automation (PA) and Life Cycle Services and Solutions (LSS) global organization of software engineers, technical leads, architects, and engineering managers.
• Build a high-performing engineering culture focused on innovation, accountability, execution excellence, and customer outcomes.
• Drive hiring, mentoring, succession planning, and employee development.
• Establish best practices for Agile development, DevOps, software quality, and engineering productivity.
• Own the technology roadmap for cloud-based industrial software solutions.
• Lead development of SaaS applications, cloud services, and digital platforms.
• Drive cloud-native architectures utilizing scalable microservices and APIs.
• Oversee development of operational dashboards, analytics platforms, asset management solutions, and industrial applications.
• Ensure high availability, reliability, scalability, and observability of software platforms.
• Drive development of software solutions supporting: Total Distributed Control ( TDC), and Experion software
• Lead software integration across OT and IT environments.
• Ensure interoperability across industrial communication protocols and enterprise systems.
• Lead development of connected software solutions that enable: Device onboarding and lifecycle management, Remote monitoring and diagnostics, Predictive maintenance, Industrial IoT applications, Edge-to-cloud connectivity, Digital twin and analytics capabilities
• Drive software architecture strategies across embedded, edge, and cloud layers.
• Champion secure-by-design software development practices.
• Ensure compliance with industrial cybersecurity standards.
• Partner with cybersecurity teams to develop secure connected solutions.
• Implement secure software lifecycle and vulnerability management processes.

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Collaborate closely with Global Product Management, Systems Engineering, Hardware, Firmware, UX, Quality, and Operations teams.
• Work directly with strategic customers to understand requirements and influence product direction.
• Align engineering investments with business growth objectives.

Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 7+ years of engineering management experience leading software organizations.
• Experience delivering commercial software products and cloud-based platforms.
• Experience leading large-scale software development programs in industrial or mission-critical environments.
• Experience in Industrial Automation, Process Automation, Building Automation, Energy Management, or Connected Products.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud platforms.
• Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience developing cloud-native SaaS platforms and microservices.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols including: OPC UA, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, Profinet
• Familiarity with industrial control systems including DCS, SCADA, PLC, and edge automation platforms.
• Experience leading globally distributed engineering teams.
