Key Responsibilities
- Work on mechanical design optimization of pumps, motors, and rotating components with focus on value improvement
- Support design‑to‑cost initiatives during New Product Development (NPD) and product upgrades
- Perform BOM analysis to identify cost drivers and design improvement opportunities
- Propose design alternatives, material substitutions, and part standardization concepts that maintain performance and reliability
- Apply DFM/DFA principles to improve manufacturability and assembly efficiency
- Support supplier technical evaluations and feasibility discussions from a design perspective
- Create and modify 3D models, drawings, and engineering documentation
- Support engineering change management (ECR/ECO) and validation activities
- Participate in cross‑functional VAVE workshops and design reviews
- Prepare optimized design concepts, validate that, analyze FEA reports.
- Prepare Business Cases, evaluate financial feasibility.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5-7 years of experience in mechanical engineering roles with exposure to:
- Mechanical Design Engineering OR
- Pump design, rotating equipment, or fluid handling systems
- New Product Development (NPD) or product engineering
- Basic understanding of Value Analysis / Value Engineering principles
Required Technical Skills
- Strong fundamentals in mechanical design and machine elements
- Understanding of pump components, rotating parts, and fluid handling systems
- Experience with 3D CAD tools (Creo / SolidWorks / AutoCAD)
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes: casting, machining, fabrication, assembly
- Basic understanding of materials used in pump and water applications
- Familiarity with GD&T and engineering drawings
- Awareness of DFM/DFA and design optimization concepts
Desired Skills & Attributes
- SAVE certification
- Awareness of VAVE, Design-to-Cost, or Cost Reduction methodologies
- Exposure to DFMEA / PFMEA or Six Sigma concepts (preferred)
- Experience or familiarity with ERP/PLM systems (SAP, Teamcenter, Windchill)
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and global teams
