Who are we?
At Vertiv, we’re on a mission to empower the people that will power the future. From a simple swipe to life-changing medicines, from push notifications to generative AI. We design, manufacture, and service the products and solutions that keep the world connected. With $6.9 billion in sales, a strong customer base and global reach spanning nearly 70 countries, we are uniquely positioned to deliver greater value to our customers and create new opportunities for our people.
We’re looking for a senior DevOps engineer in Cluj-Napoca who can take ownership of day-to-day platform work and also help us design and build new environments from scratch. This role is hands-on: you’ll be shipping improvements, removing friction for developers, and making the platform more reliable and secure without needing constant direction.
If you like solving complex infrastructure problems, improving automation, and building clean patterns people can follow, you’ll fit in well.
What you’ll do
- Build and evolve Kubernetes environments (today mainly AWS/EKS; Azure is on the roadmap).
- Design and implement new environments (dev/stage/prod, multi-account/multi-subscription, multi-region where needed).
- Own day-to-day platform work: troubleshoot, fix broken pipelines, improve reliability, and keep things running smoothly.
- Build and improve CI/CD
- Work on cloud networking and access patterns: private connectivity, DNS, ingress, service-to-service security
- Help set standards: IaC module patterns, environment structure, naming, tagging, secrets handling
- Drive cost and performance improvements (right-sizing, scaling, observability, avoiding accidental spend).
- Make monitoring and debugging practical: metrics, logs, tracing, dashboards, and clear runbooks.
What “senior” means here
- You can work autonomously: pick up a problem, break it down, execute, and communicate progress.
- You propose improvements proactively
- You balance speed and safety
- You document what matters for the team and leave things better than you found them.
Must-have experience
- Strong Kubernetes experience in production (EKS is a plus). You understand networking, DNS, ingress, upgrades, resource management, and debugging. You know how to build and use Helm charts
- Infrastructure-as-code expertise (Terraform is required).
- Solid cloud fundamentals in AWS, and ability to operate in Azure as well (dual-cloud mindset).
- CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions and/or GitLab CI), including building artifacts and, container images
- GitOps mind frame, experience with ArgoCD or similar
- Deploy and setup monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki)
- Good operational habits: observability, incident response, and post-mortems that lead to real fixes.
- Security basics done right: IAM/RBAC, least privilege, secret management, TLS, and private networking patterns
- Solid Linux systems administration fundamentals (networking, storage, systemd, package/OS management) to support upcoming on-prem deployments alongside cloud environments
Nice-to-have
- Service mesh / ingress patterns (Istio, Envoy, NLB/ALB, API gateway patterns).
- CNI/networking experience (Cilium, eBPF, Network Policies).
- Multi-account AWS setups and cross-account access patterns (OIDC, role assumptions, shared services).
- Experience running or supporting stateful systems on Cloud or in Kubernetes (Relational Databases (Postgres), Elastic, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc)
- Azure equivalents: AKS, Azure networking, Entra ID integration, Azure DevOps, Bicep (even if Terraform stays primary).
What you’ll get from us
- Real ownership and space to improve things.
- Problems that matter: reliability, security, and making delivery faster.
- A team that values pragmatic engineering over buzzwords.
- Cutting edge development environment with AI integration
